I'm thinking about painting my dash and and fuse bay cover and ash tray etc.
do you just use a plastic primer and ordinary paint or plastic paint?...also is it hard to pull the dash out?
any ideas on colours aswell the exterior is white
i was thinkng a matt black or a dark grey or charcoal
any ideas guys thanks
also is it possible to change your speedo and S**t
can you put a vt speedo in or does it not fit??
no VT wont work. just go a level 3 cluster from a calais
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
Use a vinyl dye for the dash board.
Not sure what you'd do about the plastics, none of mine are painted!

Not so.
4 years and no need to repaint. The centre console cover was actually blue from a HSV, just painted with the same VHT dye that i used today to do the top half of my other cars dash! Preparation is everything.

because my car is an auto it only has the speedo , temp and fuel guages
where the level 3's have temp , fuel rpm and speedo will it still fit??
vinyl dye?
where do u buy this stuff from?
that is so true......
top half and door trims come up a treat, the hard plastic you need to wash it, then sand it and then throw on like 10 coats for it to even THINK about lasting a year and preferably some clear......
i done that with mine and i got a scratch in mine after a while, door handles are the worst!
you could try sumthing specky like get a nice bit of stainless across where the plastic window of the dash is and insert your own dials like speco and just wire it into the back while keeping your warning lights at the bottom :P seen sum real mad idiots out there use spray can enamal on there trims was sticky a year after
The other problem, of course, is that unless you attack it a hundred times with sandpaper, whatever you paint is going to catch more dust and grit than the rest of the car.

Try not painting your interior. Looks cleaner, doesn't look cheap and tacky either.
Power mods FTW!

But OP, don't go and paint the whole thing a different colour, chances are you won't like it after 6mths when it starts to wear and tear. You'll see a lot of scuff marks![]()

with the vinyl dye....do you need anything else like clear or what? im gunna try n get a blue colour dye (if i can find one) that matches the rest of the trim inside to put on some calais door trims i got which are a creamy colour.....just was wondering how hard a job is it? just clean and then couple layers?
This was done with some $5 paint. It's on there really heavy. About 15 THICK coats. Was ok for about 2 years or so, Then I got sick of it. No Sanding or plastic primer was used. I had no idea that you where supposed to do that (when I painted these)
check my ride done it all with vinyl dye been sittin for age satin black n satin blue preperation is the key
Prep is the key, My VN sits there today, still VS Statesman Dash & Black underneath & centre console...
