I think you need an idler in place of the ps pump.

I can understand why you want or may need to run it without the A/C but why without the P/S.

Doing this will make your steering very heavy and will put excess stress on the steering system. you may not notice the heavy steering while driving but parking will be a bitch.

When I bought my VN the mechanic that did the report said the PS was leaking. When tight turning and parking I don't hold the wheel on lock I hit lock and back off a little the car still turns the same. Doing this my VN used no P/S fluid for 3 years.

My PS leaks slightly now I use the cheapest auto trans fluid i can find in it, and the usage is low. I have had a quote on getting it repaired and it will cost heaps for the parts.

The VS have a different pump system on them that seems more reliable I was going to see if that system can be adapted for the VN,but i havent had a chance to. I know the pumps are mounted on a different spot on the motor.

I have installed a VL manual steering rack in my VQ. All I can say is: best mod ever.

Thanks Morton I haven't even thought of that, does the VL rack bolt straight in?

    If so Awesome idea thanks

Vl rack will bolt straight in, but you'll need to modify your intermediate shaft on the steering column to suit the VL fittings.

the vs and vp ps pumps are mechanicaly the same.
the only difference is the way the flange goes on and the push in metal sleeve for the pipe to fluid bottle on the vs.
v8 pumps are also the same except a metal housing around the OUTSIDE of the pump.

can yo reverse the spring in the tensioner and maybe fit a "b" pulley to it to getthe belt into line.
