hey was just pokin around on the net and found some buick superchargers for there 3.8 litres, does anyone know if theyd bolt straight onto a vn vp v6 ? or how much work is needed to make it fit ? this is something id like to look into seeings as how cheap they are, cheers
There have already been a couple of threads on using the Buick S/C's on VN/VP/VR V6's so a search on here will bring up more info. Basically, they won't fit easily, at least not without a nasty restriction in the intake, because of the proximity of the firewall to the throttlebody with the S/C in the factory location.
Fitting one would be possible but not a simple bolt up. A look around some of the forums for the US models that used this engine will yield a lot of info. as to what is required. There is an SAE paper on the S1 S/C V6 too which covers the internal changes made to fit the S/C, if you or someone you know has access to a university library (or you want to pay for it).
speak to stocky he had one on his vn
Unless I have missed something, that's an SC14, the larger of the two superchargers that Toyota used on 1.6L 4's (SC12) and 2.0L (SC14) sixes. That's an entirely different deal.
^^ correct.
the buick S1 L67 used a M62 on a L27 bottom end. ie vn s2-vr bottom end.
you will need the charger, manifold, get someone to make a elbow and flange for a vn throttlebody, possibly get longer kickdown and throttle cables.
then theres the belt system, from memory, it used a single belt unlike the later one using a second belt. you will need to fab something up, as most of the accesories are in different spots on the us motor.
