    Default 5L, power burnouts?

hi guys and girls, this is my 1st post
i have a 5 Litre Vp auto and it wont do power burnouts even while turning, it only spins if i hook it around quite hard...

the car is stock bar exhaust+extractors, are stock 165kw 5 litres capable of straight line power burnouts? i expect mine is not running 100%

Your car is heavy, its Auto, it has ABS, and it probably has an openwheeler!

To combat these, convert to manual, add a line locker, and a spool, an your next posts will be 'where to buy cheap tyres?'

my dads vs 5L ute did power burnouts if this helps, i know its a ute, but once u got the revs up, she hauled ass. in my experience, 5L are a doey motor alltogether, i have a vx executive 5spd manual 3.8L v6, and it just about keeps up with the old 5L. dads vs would smoke from startoff, (just plant the throttle, no brake), but seing as they are so doey, she wouldnt keep it going, because:
straight off the line if you plant it, no brakes, it just grips, but once you get the revs up, she starts to spin, but this didnt last for long, as the speed rises and it just grips again and takes off.

get it going first, no brake and once it starts to spin, slowly add the brake and maybe a donut or two lol.. help?

Hi mate a VP calais wont spin the wheels on take off without standing still on the brake. A VN will no problem but the IRS and almost certain LSD your car has makes for alot more traction on launching

yeah. no way a stock IRS flogged out 5.0 auto is going to do a power skid unless it's got shoddy tyres on the back. Chuck some 175s on there and everything will change

my vq statesman with 220,000 on the clock auto does skids off the mark without stalling it up with 205's, but with anything wider it just bogs down and takeoff.. dont think it has an lsd, it will spin 2 on the mark doing a line locker but flat chat with 205's it just spins 1.

My vn v8 auto at the moment with low km/s and 225/60/15's (factory LSD) will power skid off the line sideways in first then bog down in second(occasional chirp into second) , a corvette servo and 3.45-3.7's shoud fix that

kewl i'm not worried anymore! just wanted to know i obviously expected too much from the stock 5.0.. the low down torque's very doughy yes ...do V6's have so much response because they're a roller cam?

it has 225 tyres but theyre a cheap brand (Nankangs lol), it's IRS yes, ABS no, and squats heaps on takeoff.... it is Lsd but i do plan on a spool later on and i have a B+M line locker kit havent had it put in yet though that should be some fun...

    cheers for ur replies

V6's have nothing on a 5 litre that's running more spark advance, that's the only reason a 5 litre will ever get beat off the line be a V6

i got a vp wagon with the 185 motor in it. 4,11 diff gears, shift kitted, mini spool diff and full twin 2.5" exhuast and pacemaker headers. My motor only has about 30,000kms on it since rebuild but i can get 2nd powerskids in the with no stalling etc on 18's. Just foot flat from lights and change into 2nd and will hold it for about 100m.

Keep in mind your motor is actually a 165, the difference was exhaust and CAI etc, which you've changed anyway
