    Default LS1 into VP V6

    Hey guys,
im thinking about putting a ls1 with 6 speed manual trans into my vp which is currently v6.

    Rough estimate of pricing?
Parts required? obviously ls1 and trans along with clutch, computer, wiring loom, need to upgrade suspension and new exhaust system along with diff and tailshaft.

    How do-able is it?

    Anyone done it?

Is it worth the cost of just buy a newer car with LS1 equipped?

    Doable!
Worth it? depends on what you want. If you just want an LS1/6 speed, buy a VT SS or something. If you want a quick track car, a LS1 in the lighter VP body would be good!

i dont think you'll need springs as the weight differance between an ls1 verus v6 in neglagable.
brake's are a different story they must handle the ls1's performance. (NSW) s.a. law maybe differant.

yeah i do reckon it'd cost that most but i spose it depends on how i do it, if i got for the best of everything or just want to get it going, like price can vary on what brakes i go for lol, and the diff and suspension, all sorts of things.

LOL, that 15-20 is o the bottom end of the scale!

Whats your budget? Theres plenty of cars out there with the conversion, so theres shitloads of info about them.

well since everyone seems to be serious that its going to cost 15k+, i wouldnt bother.
either buy a VY SS or step back into an earlier period of time (like the 50's) and drop an LS1 into something worthwhile.

WELL worth it. Everyone has a goddamn VT/VX. Not many people have LS1 VPs

At the end of the day, could you REALLY live with yourself driving a VY? I mean, really?

if you want to go fast i'd suggest rebuilding your current engine to handle enormous boost, and turbo the crap out of it. it would smash the ls1 power wise and cost half as much to do.

or drop an rb30 in it. luke?

gonna be a bit quicker than a v6 vp

talked to some guys at work(mechanics) they said they'd help out so the only cost will be buying everything, should be about $10k and im already half way there.

Could look like an insane project, LS1 VP, will probs stay stock with just intake, exhaust and tune for the time, but then supercharging it is defiantly on the cards.

And it will be a lot more unique than everyone driving there ss's with ls1's in them, no offense to those guys.

get a mafless tune, cam etc. will make around the 400hp mark atw easy. that will be heaps of [power in a vp. will fry the tyres when ever u want.

Most people that do the conversion themself end up at 10k cost. That's for NEW parts, new engine etc

I dont wanna seem like a hater or anything, but why do you want to sink ten grand into a 20 year old commodore? Its hardly a desireable model, and you can gurantee you will never see your money again. IMO an HQ 2door with an LS1 would be much more impressive, and worth a whole lot more.
