I have a slight problem with the vn .It starts and runs beautiful but when i drive it no changing of gears and then it runs rough and shut,s down as soon as i restart runs smooth again until it,s supposed to change then same thing . has ample fluid and no leaks

does it do it all the time or only when the motors hot?

All the time and also when i put the car on a ramp it did same thing just enough time to get it up the ramp

Is there any error codes on the dash? (orange warning light) Could be numerous things, dodgy fuel pump- does it wine or make funny noises? could be coilpacl/dfi, crank angle sensor etc..

any more details on what the car does?? so basically when you start it and rev in neutral it runs fine but when you takeoff/drive it it dies in the ass and stalls but then starts immidiantly straight afterwards with no hiccups?

Any black smoke coming out the tailpipe?

Sound's like your transmission is stuffed. Might also just be the torque converter.

or the pump or its one slipping bitch

a dodgy pump, slipping trans or worn torque converter wont make the engine completely stall out of the blue all the time if the car is actually moving

Yep if you drove as though it didnt have to change gear it would go no problem . At this point im thinkin trans related not up shifting but finds first and reverse no problem No slipping just wont shift then stops running . No smoke either and ill check for the engine light tomorrow

there are heaps of things in the trans that could be the problem. you could try changing the oil, but sadly, often by the time these sorts of symptoms have shown up, it's too late.

if your going 1/4 throttle or flat out into a gearchange it will stall? as in you can never get out of first gear with the problem? if it is trans related then your trans sounds pretty sick to me.

If its selecting first-reverse then the pump is good, oil condition wont stall a motor, torque converter even warped to the shit house wont stall it only make it run rough and lack of performance off the mark, slipping trans will only make your motor rev while trying to change gears...

sounds like something dislodged in the trans but not quite sure on that one
