    Default vp v8 decel???

have 1992 vp v8 ss 5speed manual sedan ,problem occurs when in gear on closed throttle ,for example ,approaching red light or anticipating gear change down....engine goes to normal idle but then feels like it enters into decel mode ,but engine feels like a truck engine brake!!!!! at almost exactly 52 kph ,while still in gear ,engine gives an aggressive kick ,the idle returns to 'normal' ,and will idle down to a lower speed without fault!!! if i go to open throttle while in the 'decel mode' ,there is a noticeable 'flat spot' coming off idle ,before the same kick returns on throttle up.....so far replaced ecu ,map sensor ,tps set at as close to 1 volt as possible ,no fault codes show ever...........car a pig in city driving... thanks

I dont quite get what your saying, so your gearing down at a red light and it seems like an engine brake (which it is in a low gear deaccelerating) the motor gives a kick, the its normal, then it kicks again when your throttling back up???

Its hard to diagnose over the net if its a gearbox or motor related problem but half of what you said sounds normal and could possibly be an engine problem.

    More info will help

The erratic idle i had was similar, yet it was constant when not moving, not just when slowing down (but it happened then aswell).

The fix that some people have had work is the Earth for the alternator has come away from the body. Screwing it back in (sometimes it will need to be lengthened if its frayed) and it should solve it. If it doesn't, i can't help you!

thanks for your time... in regards to the decel and speed bit, according to workshop manual ,decel occurs when all these conditions are met....coolant temp above 44 ,engine rpm above 1400 ,veh speed above 36k ,throttle closed ,and map input shows no load on engine ,ie less than 22kpa.....to exit decel ,any one of the following need to occur ,eng rpm below 1250 ,veh speed less then 31k ,throttle open at least 1% ,and map input above 22kpa................my problem occurs at the 52kph point instead of the 31kph point. makes me think memcal ??????????????? thanks ..kopynwa..

tps should be at .5 volts not 1 volt too high or too low can make it jump in and out of idle mode reset it to 0.5 volts and see how you go is it a stock memcal
