Can anyone help me out here... I've gotten a picture off google and pointed out what this thingymabob is cause you fellas won't understand my language of describing things!!
What I think may be my problem would be is the almost new starter motor (grr) or my battery.
When I try to start the old girl, I hear the fuel pump, but she won't crank over... at all. The thing in the picture that i've pointed to with the yellow arrow, that usually spins the belt, won't spin at allIt just clicks... And makes a slight movement if I hold the key turned in the ignition.. I have the check engine light, oil and battery on my dash. I try to turn my key and they go and the "!" light comes on which is normal..
Is this my starter motor??I had to pay four hundred something dollars for the NRMA man to chuck that in about a year ago.. The starter died on a Sunday morning, and my Grandpa pulled out one of the many cobweb covered car parts from his garage that he claimed still lives. He spent till after lunch putting it in, and it didn't work, by then it was 2 pm and with no wreckers open we had no choice but to call the NRMA, pay for a brand effin new one and get him to put it in coz my Pop was exhausted
Pleaase tell me it's the starter, it still has warranty!!
If not.. Could it be the battery?? But my Ma won't let me jump my car from hers.. Her battery is probably a *insert big brand name here* battery that cost ten times the price of my car
HEEEEELLLPPP ME START MY BABY![]()
Gee I cried alot in that post.. =\
yeah id say it's your battery.
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.
Even in our sleep we happen to be right.

Sounds like its your battery, if you have a multimeter test it
I think I have another battery under the house??? But under the house it wet and full of red backs.. I have good tyres under there and have been too scared to pull them out.
I poured the whole jug of iced water over the CAS and still no go, so I can rule that out.. I'll go see Grandpa in the morning and get him to bring his garage down the roadAnyone who lives near me will see an old Sri Lankan man walking to my house with a wheel barrow full of car parts, jumper leads and voltage testers.. and other useless crap.. lol

Okay... An update.

sabrina.. if you want.. in the morn ill come give ya a jump and all should be good...
unless your alternator is broked
Hey ya Haydz i'd appreciate that.. Just call me whenever you're ready.
Thankyou!! :-)
I'm ringing prices of alternators and batteries now to see what im up for lol
test ya battery voltage should be around 13.somthing volts. If its only 11volts or less its flat. And you need to work out why too cause it'll keep happening. Check you got 14 odd volts coming outta the alternator when haydz gets you going. If not check boot light and stuff is not staying on.
GUESS WHAT GUESS WHAT GUESS WHAT?!?!?!?!?! SHE LIIIVVEEES!!![]()

Haydz woke me up nice and early - quarter to nine lol. He tested my battery it was only giving out 0.45 volts!! Tried to jump mine from his and mine would only charge up to 9.5 volts.. After messing around and taking the pulley off mine, and then having to look at his to see which way it goes back on haha he tried to explain how the alternator charges the battery, by using an example of how a phone charges.. It didn't work it confused me more. Lol. It left us dumbfounded and Mr Haydz continued on his merry way to school! Thankyou for coming Mr Haydz
Soon after Grandpa arrived, checked the water in my battery, found two empty cells shouted at me alot, swore under his breath alot, connected the battery terminals to a charger and bought her back to life!!!Now I am constantly looking out the front because I left the power windows down before we d/c'd the battery. Anyhoo she's charging and i'm gonna go get a replacement from Commwreck for 30 bux by this weekend.. Hooray

Qu... The battery charger was charging at 2 amps, and is almost down to 0... When it goes down to 0 is it fully charged??
dunno, but i've been told that once a battery goes flat more than a couple of times it's dead, like won't take charge properly or something. dunno what this means for your battery under the house.
Quick 101
just to clarify, the alternator spins from the belt, doesn't actually drive the belt. this spinning charges the battery and gives power to the cars electrics. if the alternator is boned then the battery won't receive as much charge (or at all) and will die. also if the battery is dead, but the alternator is fine then the car still doesn't have enough uice to start. the clicking you heard would probably have been the starter motor trying to crank the engine, but not having enough power. can't remember the location of the starter motor it's down the bottom but more than that i don't know.
*dunno if this is info you already know, just thought it might be helpful if it's a persitent problem. i'm not a mechanic and don't know everything (like the location of the starter) just sharing what i do.
Haha thankyou for the 101..
my cars electrics were working fine... maybe the alternator is the culprit then?? So the alternator should give me 14 volts once the battery is fully charged? damnit.
