You won't need to bleed the brakes if you are only changing pads, unless you let the fluid level get too low and air got into the system.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

If you bleed the brakes you have to do it properly and do the whole system. You don't just bleed any brake you want to.left rear then right rear, then left front then right front.

    here's a good guide,

you could be lazy and just do the front, but for the extra $5 worth of Dot4 , and half hour work just do the whole lot. you will enjoy improved stopping and pedal feel if you do.

can someone tell me if sanding back rotors will do it good???. dont hav money for new rotors for rears o to get them machined, but have new set of pads to put on them. so might as well chuck them on while bleeding brake system...any ideas?

whats wrong with them ? if the face is badly scored you would be wasting your time with sand paper. If they have a big lip on the outside you could file or grind it off. ?

Unless the disc surface is really bad, I'd just leave it. The only possible issue is that the new pads will run on the highest parts of the disc surface and potentially overheat on those spots. Bedding in will take longer and the pads will wear faster but that's about it. Drive gently on the new pads.

Do a few maybe 4 or 5 stops from about 60 gentle braking to about 5km/h but dont stop and do them a few minutes apart. Then just take it easy on them for the first drive or 2. Nothing special really even just a few gentle drives is all you really need. But dont be afraid to jump on them if your gonna run up somones arse or somthing you wont wreck them
