what do most people change thier diff gears to on a v6? if it provides quicker acceleration what's it like on the highway. Could i still drive from sydney to cairns? or would it sit to high in the rpm and just suck juice-
if you still want to do alot of hwy driving and retain some fuel efficency go the 3.45's
if economy is improtant i'd sugest either 3.45's (best) or 3.73's (although these are rear these days). for performance only i'd suggest either 3.9's or 4.11's
if you check the diff thread in the V6 section it has some charts for the different ratio's showing KM/H Vs RPM's

Yep I can still get well over 600km from a tank with 3.45s so they don't increase consumption much, Also don't make much gainbut then no diff gears do on a stock 5l litre. The V6 improves much more as it has less torque to start with
i think 3.4's are lame, i got them in me clubby, ive decided to go 3.9s

did 3.73s improve acceleration by much?
Yes, a shitload...... my 3.9's made an insane amount of difference
seriously man, there is a lil search button up the top....... this subject has been done a millllllllllion times.... the general rule is
if you dont care about fuel go the highest you can.....
if you do, then go with 3.45's or 3.7's...... but dont go anything lower then 3.45's because its not worth it.
manual is same as above
auto is either 3.7's or 3.9's.....
and if you just want to skate around doing burnouts all the time then get 4.11's.....
3.45s won't even make a difference on a V8skip 'em and go straight to 3.7s

Even 3.9s make almost no difference in a strong stock cam 5 litre. But you need at least 3.45s to run a cam successfully
In that case, I'll hold on to those 3.73s I have waiting for me in the garage ^_^

Basically this is how i'd work it..
Automatic:
3.9's if you do most driving around town. 3.7's if you do some highway driving. This is because around town you won't notice a real difference in fuel consumption but on the highway at 110/100 you will (anything over 80km/h really).
Manual:
3.45 or 3.7's if you really like changing gears. 3.9's are just too short for a manual in my opinion and you'll be basically writing off 1st gear.
