Ok guys, I am new to these forums and couldn't seem to find anything that fitted what I needed help with and don't actually know what the problem is.
I own a VN S-pack Automatic.
The car usually runs amazing, no problems at all.
Once every week or two I get a problem where the engine light comes on.
While the engine light is on the car runs shocking, drinks heaps of fuel and stalls a lot.
The temp gauge is still normal whilst it is doing this.
I find doing the following (in that order) fixes it(for a week or two):
-Disconnecting the battery.
-Pouring cold water on the crank angle sensor
-Waiting 2-3 minutes
-Re connect Battery
I have had the sensor replaced (even though nothing was wrong with the original unit) and still the same problem.
I have replaced the computer in the car and the coil pack also, no change.
It still happens.
It seems to happen more often on hot days though when the car has been turned off for over an hour.
I'm absolutely lost and can't think of what to do...
I have tried a few mechanics but they can't seem to find any problem...
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
have you checked your fuel pump? possible blockage that causes the shaking/stalling? doe sthis occur mainly when you are low on fuel? the filter may be sucking the bottom of the tank and all the crap is probably gettin stuck. Another thing that cud be is your air intake, the engine may not be recieveing enough oxygen to keep the fuel / air ratio decent for combustion, so check your air intake / filter / clean the throttlebody inside, there usually dirty see how you go then mate.
it sounds like the CAS, if its doing it on hot days dont disconnet the battery just get freezing cold water and poor it on to it, if it starts after that you know its stuffed, also another could be the o2 sensor on the exhaust, a good thing would not to disconnect the battery and get the error codes from the computer and find out what they are, the engine light comes on for a reason so something is wrong with the car. good luck check the codes from the computer.

I'd recommend cleaning the plugs on your wiring loom behind the relay box under the bonnet. Also make sure your engine has a solid earth. Can you find out what code is causing your engine light to come on?
It doesnt seem to be the fuel pump because it happens no matter how much fuel I have in it.
I'll get the error codes when I get a chance to get it back to my Dads work, maybe next week.
I thought it was the CAS but ive had it changed 3 times since I got the car and it hasnt made a difference.
I checked the plugs on the loom and the engine earth and they are fine...
I'll check the 02 exhaust sensor and the throttle body this week end and when I get the codes ill post em up.
Thanks for the help![]()
also check that the terminal on the plugs into the computer are tight.
.95mm drill bit shoud be firm other wise it is loose and needs to be squeezed shut a little.
Also look for damaged insulation on the wiring down to the cas.
