ive been looking to buy a VN Calais 5L and have noticed that somewhere in 1990 they started getting digital climate control units instead of the 2 knobs and slider.
can anyone pin point it down to the month?
and can these digital units be installed into cars without?
thanks
I've seen 89s with them before, but i couldn't tell you the month. This would be one for 88greenvn

thanks for the info!
So March 1990 is the official month. I suspect a few trial units would have gone down the line well before this date.
Can you put climate into a car - yes - but it's a bit of work. I just did the 88 VN Wagon over xmas. It's change the heater box and wire in the 10 wire loom and mount the sensors. About 2 days work.
Here is a link to the XX8 VN upgrade

I had a climate control system into a VN thread going.

ive also been looking at VN SS's and noticed that somewhere in 1990 the front seats changed. i was thinking these 2 changes would have happened at the same time. and according to that bulletin i was right.
apart from the front seats, any other changes to VN SS? cos if i cant find a 91 model (ideally i want the last model) for a decent price, ive got a 90 model in mind with the 'series 1' seats, which i could just change anyway.
