A vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvver noise

hey guys theres a vvvvvvvver noise coming fron the back of my car i think.
only goes for like 5 secs after i turn car off

sounds like a fuel pump :S

when you turn the ignition to ON (not actually starting the car), does it make the same sound as your describing?
If so, its the fuel pump.

thats just ya fuel pump mate when u turn your car on - it primes for a few seconds - and sometimes when u turn off it releases that fuel to the tank

usually if it makes that much noise you got no petrol or its on the way out so if it stops one day and wont start again thats where id looked

yip fuel pump it will keep running untill the oil pressure in the engine drops after you turn the engine off

thats a interesting point, even if your car is turned off and your inside, should your pressure drop does the pump kick in auto maticaly to keep pressure up for you to start it next time?

or does it pump up to pressure like crazy at start up,

nope just primes at startup you shouldnt loose pressure anyway unless you have leaking injectors,regulator or leaky non return valve in the pump
