switch may be just getting stuffed if you are showing good pressure on the guage did you fit a T-peice for both guage and pressure switch like i have

lol yeah thats bad oil pressure

As for OP the problem may be the factory wire on the factory sensor coming losse so light will flicker on occasionally check the connection is clean and tight

so you havnt fitted the oil guage yet.you maybe loosing pressure if the light is coming on then.or the wire could be shorting out somewhere get the guage hooked up.

nah the gauge isnt fitted yet, need a t-piece first. but it will help trouble shoot. yeah the oil light on the cluster keeps coming up

also just had a look should there be oil on the lil connection part

e.g the cable connection to the sender

nope if its coming from the sensor the sensor is poked they leak after a while the vn ones were bad for it so as long as its not oil thats leaked from above ide say its leaking.you can just put the guage in without the T-peice but i allways recommend both as then you get the light show up on the dash to warn you of imminant damage as you cant allways watch the guage.and you get backup fuel pump supply voltage should anything happen to the regular fuel electrics as well.

plus i have seen them leak quite bad and still work so dont just think the sensor is dead and drive it only to find out you have no oil pressure and ruin the engine

it wont trigger the light from no connection only from shorting to earth

o assumed the light would come on ive never checked beside having a pressure gauge in instead. Might test that one tomorrow to see if your right even though you likely are

thanks to immortalty's thread factory pressure relief valve spring should be set for at least 60psi pressure before it pops open.they do sag over the years causing lower pressure.
