Default Power steering noise VN commodore executive sw 89

    hello,
first of all sorry for my words, i'm not english.
So, i have some noises with my power steerinng when i want to park my car or when i turn my weels at low speed.

Looking in the forum, i saw some solutions:
    1> fluid and connection check
2> leaking seals replaced in rack? (can this be done without splitting, i.e can i unscrew a tie rod)
    3> replace power steering pump
    4> replace steering rack

Fist (i'm not a mechanic), I would like to add some new fluid? which one is good for this car and not very expensive?

Otherwise, what can i check to isolate the problem?

    thx

    Zai

    Thx

do sumthing for yaself first take off ya drive belt and run the car without a belt, just to pin point it as the pump. and i have a good power steering pump if your intrested in buying it. use trans mission fluid dextron 3 as its the same as your powertsteering fluid

I think this has been one of the best use of English on the forum to date, so certainly dont stress about your English skills lol.

Theres a dip stick on the power steering pump lid, sometimes its hard to work out if theres not enough to even register on the dipstick. So make sure you are reading it right.
Dex 3 (dextron III) is the fluid you want, its also automatic transmission fluid. From memory, its about $10-$15 a litre, you wont need very much, or you would have serious noises.

is it leaking? if not i wouldn't bother replacing the pump and/or rack. hell my last car leaked badly and i left it like that for over a year, just kept topping it up. when checking for leaks, dab the spot with a paper towel and see what colour it is. engine oil = brown. power steering/auto trans = red.

make sure to check the fluid at the correct temperature (there's 2 lines on the dipstick, one for when it's hot and one for when it's cold).

how loud is the noise? it'll definitely be loud if the fluid is low. i had a reco pump fitted to my car and it still makes a moo-cow noise at low speeds. wouldn't worry about it too much.

i will check everything tomorow on my car.
I'm quitte sur there is no leak, i often look on the ground to check because it's an old car with more than 320 000 km. Still run well!

i never had the owner's manual. Is it possible to find it for free on pdf format on internet?

nope, but you don't need the owners manual anyway. the extent of it would be to tell you how to take the cap off the power steering reservoir - not rocket science
