    Default Removing Injectors

im pulling out the injectors for a clean and was just wondering if someone could give me the run down on how to take them out on a vp 5.0 as i cant afford for the mechanic to do the lot.

Yeah, you just undo the fuel rail (4 bolts under the plastic caps) then lift the rail out of the manifold, then unclip all the injectors (both the clips on the plug and the clips on top of the injector holding them into the rail) and pull them out. If you feel like you might have a unco attack put a soft rag under them as you pull them out so you don't bash them into something and break the tips off them as they are a bit fragile

on mine i also had to undo the 2 fuel hoses that go into the ends of the fuelrails either side

no biggy just a flat head screwdriver to undo as your lifting them out

no worries then sounds easy enough ,but that unco attack is always possible especially not knowing what im doing.

yeh dont stress lol u cant go too far wrong - and when ya undo the fuel hoses etc a tiny bit of fuel will come out - not too much so dont worry its normal and yeh as said before with the clips holding the injectors on be careful with em -

BTW how are u cleaning them - i took mine to the local watchmaker who stuck em in his ultrasonic cheap as - they comeout fine from that

You dont need to get the fuel hoses off to just remove the injectors without the whole rail but I guess if you do take the whole lot out you will save on the possible unco attack

yeh i found it easier that way myself least ya not leaning over the car with the possibility of dropping one of those injector clips - besides its only 2 easy screws to get the fuel hoses off

i thought the injectors were stuck in the manifold ?

nah the injectors just sit in the manifold they are clipped by the top bit to the fuel rail with a big circlip looking thing so if u lift the whole fuel rail out the injectors will be attached to the fuel rail and will slide straight out of the manifold - dont forget to unplug the injectors of course lol....apart from the bolts holding the fuel rail (and injectors) in ---- is the 2 fuel hose at the very end of the rails and they are easily removed if i get time tomorow ill take some pics

You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in. This is your wake up call.

i dont think there is average equipment to clean em - ultra sonics are hell expensive, im just lucky we got one in the family - but they give the best clean
