Default What V8 motor into VP?

Hey guys so ive finally decided what i want to do with my car, i will be keeping my vp and chucking some form of stroke and blown V8 into it, now my question is, should i just use the holden 5L or is there a better option.

No im not going ls1 as its too expensive and not worth it in the end.

So any help would be great, thanks

Big Block Chev... its the only way. Oh wait you don't want to spend big $$$$.

I recon if you can find a VR/VS Senator/GTS 5.7L motor, get one of them.

A stroked and blown version of the 5 litre will easily cost in excess of $20k for everything to be done properly.

Most people can seem to get a LS1 dropped in for around $10-$15k all up - I reckon its better bang for your buck going that way.

the one comeracing do is just an exchange which is why i guess its so cheap - u pull the engine in and out - (or pay someone) - and then yeh put a blower on aint cheap and then redo the memcal - but 4k is a good price for a exchange stroker if ya can fit ur own engine - complete with memcal and all

Yeah, even then you can't really just whack in a stroker and expect that its only going to cost $4.5k to get it built. The gearbox and diff will quickly let go....

A stroker kit is around $7k I think (last time I looked at CAPA), then there is the tune like you mentioned, then beefing up other components - the bills add up very quickly.

I dont know why you think an LS conversion will be more expensive. "oh ill just stroke it to 355 and supercharge it" im a huge fan of blown 5L especially a 355 but i really doubt it would be cheaper.

CAPA Vortechs are about mininum 6k for the basic setup, then tuning, perhaps an intercooler and then maybe a trans upgrade as well to cope with the power since how long is your standard box gonna last with 300flykw ?

the pavtec engines are $5500 for the 430hp strokers?
that seems prettyfair since ive paid about $6500 for parts and built the motor myself and it makes about the same power...

but then you ahve to do your fuel system aswell, theres $1000ish

everything evens out in the end, if i was to do my ute again it would have an ls2 with a cam and thats it for about $12000
320rwkw in a light car is insane
