Hello, I just bought a 160k VN 5 speed manual and when I go to rev it, there is just under a second of delay before the motor actually starts revving (Using throttle body not pedal). It has a pod filter and extractors and exhaust from what I can tell.. is the timing in these cars electronically controlled? It’s definitely had a hard life, but the gearbox and clutch feels good, and it idles perfectly without overheating. Just the acceleration is weird, delay on accelerating and then revs really easy.
I have an E39 523i BMW for my daily driver and bought this for a project car. I haven't decided yet whether to turbo it, or try fit an ecotec in there and M90. The block seems pretty solid and blows no smoke and 160k's is still good.

I wouldn't say throttle cable if your revving it at the throttle body by hand.. Yes the timing is electronically controlled, Maybe it's just in need of a new set of plugs and leads?
I'll try that... I'll inspect the plugs today and replace them this weekend. I have the full treatment going on this car. My budget is $11k and goal approximately 220rwhp and 10psi with either turbo or supercharger. I am thinking the SC14 chargers are crap, and better off spending money on a turbo kit, but then when I upgrade to an ecotec motor I think I'll have to change headers? Still researching this now.

Got the 9mm Eagle leads from my old windsor dizzy there. I think I paid $120 for them and never used them, sweet. Will update.
