Default EF thermo fans onto VN V6

I know the AU shroud is a bit better size for the earlier Commodores, but I have a set of EFs in the shed and want to fit them to the VN. Anyone done this before who can offer any tips as to how to physically fit the fans with an efficient shroud setup?

Generally, they need a bit of a trim. From what Ive seen, people test fit, trim, fit again.... etc. Use a grinder to get nice flat edges, and then cable tie on top and bottom

Since the fans are fully contained within the setup, they are already shrouded as well as needs be - they don't need that huge sticky-out shroud that Holden are so fond of

with the au ones on my car - i only needed to trim the sides where the top and bottom hoses are - the rest was an easy fit - id imagine ef;s would be pretty similar - when i went to the wreckers to get mine though he said au where the way to go - ef;s werent as long i think whereas the au ones cover the radiator properly

cant quite remember - mite be lenght or height there was one thing he said is why everyone buys the au's

Don't talk to me about cable ties hahaha

Screws and bolts are for keeping in jars. Cable ties are for keeping your car in once piece

There's nothing better than a quick-release fan shroud for that emergency cam swap

    lol yep

AU are the better fit on VN/Ps, the EF are slightly too wide from what I've read. I need the room up front though for the turbo setup and the EF are meant to be slightly slimmer so let's see what happens

As for test fitting time and again, that's the plan I'll take plenty of pics as I go too if I remember, that way nobody will need to ask this again

If anyone has any ideas on wiring them in, please see the thread of the same title in the Electrical section!! The EF fans have dual speed control, so does the VN output, just not sure how to put the two together

Seems there is no way in hell these are going to fit snugly against the radiator. Even if I chop off everything that isn't fans, i.e. the ENTIRE shroud, they are miles too wide.
