    Default Won't Start

    HI,
VN Commodore wont start, it is not the battery and it is not the starter motor. What else could it be?
    Thanks.

CAS or the coils could be a good place to start. Is the fuel pump buzzing into action when you turn the ignition on?

No, there is nothing when you turn the key, there is no dash lights or anything. It was working a few weeks ago, made no changes in that time and went to start it yesterday and nothing.

No dash lights - battery connection could be corroded. Also you could check the earths next to the battery.

Could it be the electrics to the ignition? Just wait for my husband to get home so he can check what you said because I would not have a clue. He is just getting really sh*tty because the car wont start, so trying to find out what the problem is for him.

Does any of the accessory's ie. radio, wipers turn on at all?

You could check the ignition fuse, and all the fusible links located above the battery, although it does sound like a dead battery. You need a multimeter to test its voltage, should be around ~12v when car is off, then try jumpstart it, it should be charging at around 13.9-14.4v.

We have jumpstarted it with my car and also put my live battery in it, so it is def. not the battery. When we jumpstart and turn the ignition on the car just does nothing. It doesn't turn over, none of the instruments come on. The only other thing is when we used to start it we had to jiggle the gear stick in between gears to start it, it is an auto btw. Dont know if that would have anything to do with it.

The inhibitor switch on the auto can stop it from starting, but you should still get ignition lights on the dash. I'd be getting a multimeter and checking to see if you have power at the ignition barrel, fusible links etc..

Everywhere sell them, most spare parts like Supercheap, Autobarn, Repco. Also K-Mart, Big W, Dick Smiths...

Come in very handy for problems like these.

    EDIT: Just a cheapie - about $15.

Okay we have power everywhere except in the LP check fuse under the bonnet, when we stick a live wire in there we can turn the car over but there is no stsrt still. And fuel started spraying out from a hose under the bonnet.
