genuine 91 model VN SS???

Gday fellas , how can you tell if a white 91 model VN SS is a genuine SS?... Like did they all have power mirrors and windows? cruise.etc

ahh ok im thinking of buying this car of a guy and didnt think to check wether it is a ss or not..has all the kit and decals but standard mirrors...Dont know what to look for thats all.

my mate has a vn ss atlas grey . no power windows / no power mirrors/ no electrics

The power pack was an option on all SSs, some have it some dont.

The pack consists of power windows, power mirrors, and cruise control (cruise deleted on manuals)


You wont be able to check just from the vin, as exec and SS use the same model code (K) but theres a few guys here that can decipher the car from pics.

ahh ok looking at paying $6k drive away HaD a look at it tonight and took it for a spin and goes fkn hard,,2 month old auto with stally and kevlar bands etc,, needs abit minor touch up on the body kit and lining it up properly etc vt ss front and rear seats etc..i'll get the vin # tommorrow morning

if hes put an after market kit on it im gonna go out on a limb n say not genuine coz u wouldnt do it to a vn ss but if u like it and ur happy with it go for it who cares if its an ss

never had a vn SS 5.0 before always had vlct, so yeh not sure how to tell the difference so i know im not getting jibbed.

Sounds like its just not lining up properly, which happens over time. My side skirts aren't flush like they were when i bought the car, obviously the sikaflax has let them move apart.


The problem is, at that time (VN) dealers were fitting those kits to try and sell the cars (badges as a 'formula') but removing the pin stripe, and putting an SS decal on it, and flogging it off for more is all too easy.

The kit on one i looked at was identical, and even had the spotties (aftermarket spotties, but the look almost identical to SS ones)

good point,, like i said how can you tell genuine? Like the body kit im sure there not stamped like hsv etc. Im refering to the bottom skirts? this is the car.bare in mind those photos are 6 months old have more pick if required. regarding the front lip extension are they meant to be rubber or glass? I remember buying a lip few years back and it was made of rubber, the 1 on this car is glass.Also the corner peices on the bobtail are screwed throught the body with 2 nuts on each inside the boot.

On build plate should be either A9G for manual or A9F for auto.

Everything looks as it should. Even the interior is right for a late model one.

It has to be a late model one as the white ones weren't initially available when the VN SS was realeased, they came out as "series 2".

yeh the seller says its a S2 91 model, but recalling now after i got home i noticed it ddint have electric mirrors(no big deal) And im thinking every SS i have looked at had electric mirrors. And the fact it has SS manual window winder doortrims.... Now im getting worried..lol but i know from experience with my calais i had to settle for the same.
Just couldnt find any without the winder hole.

The power pack is over rated anyway, its in a VN with 20 year old electrics, they are bound to stuff up at some stage. When I bought my VN SS, I was glad it didn't have power windows.

Like i said, the power pack was optional. So only SSs that had that ticked from new or the dealer will have it. The rest wont (just like Ryans poverty pack)


Ryan, he said its a 91, can't get much later that that And there called Mach II according to someone else on here, there no such thing as a series 1 or 2 when talking VNs, peopele just refer to that as its easier than saying 'late' or 'early'
