Fuel Tank Leaking...Help me!!

hey guys another result of poor fuel economy is probably the hole in the fuel tank which drips fuel all day long i would have to think.

I put my hands around the back of the tank where the hose is connected on one side and felt fuel coming out, it's dribbling lowly.

Does anyone know how i can fix this is leaking on the tarmac as is speak.

Is it coming from the hose, the connection to the tank, or the tank itself?
Work out exactly what is leaking. If it is the hose shorten it or replace it, the connection tighten the clamp or add another & if it's the tank take it to a mechanic to get sorted out.

yeah it's the hose which connects to the tank. do i need to get a clamp i can't see one in place. do i need silicon around it?

Do fuel tanks rust or get holes that way cos i got no dint's?

The hose might be buggerd, ild replace the hose and clamp and see how you go

You know how the seal in the windows for example dry out and don't work properly, could this be the same situation it that the hose is buggered and dried out then split?

Do i need a new one or can a make one up from whatever i find?

From the description, it's likey it is the spigot for the return line is leaking at the tank. If that is the case, a proper fix would have the tank emptied and the spigot resoldered (yep, not a home workshop job).

On a car that is not worth a great deal of money, alternatives are another tank from a wrecker or maybe a bead of one of the epoxy sealants made for the purpose can be applied around the base of the spigot.

Don't try to use a sealant such as silicone as it won't set and it will be carried through the system to clog up the wrong bits.

While you have the tank apart replace all the breather hoses with new ones.

Yeah i think petrol would eat silicone anyway. I dont wan't to be taking the tank off even because that's a whole lot of messing around. I'll replace the hoese first and see how that goes.

The most likely cause is a old hose, take the hose off and examine it for cracks. If it feels old and has a crack in it then it will need to be replaced. Also double check all other fuel hoses, there are a few by the tank and a couple in the engine bay.

fule tank is a big problem. i would take it to someone who knows what there doing as well.

Yes i finally got it it was just a hose i replaced it and I'm sweet cheers guys.
