g'day gentlemen

It is time to change the brake pads on my vn exec, I've been told by a tool at work that you need someone qualified to change them, sounds like complete bullshit to be but I don't like the idea of running off the road into a tree

second of all, what brake pads would you recommend?

10 min job per side. I've usually run with bendix.

yeah easy as anything..... my next set of pads are going to be a set of qfm's..... haven't heard anything bad about them so they get my money (gslrallysport who is a sponsor on here sells them)

I like Bendix also. Because I'm a lazy ****, the ones that you don't have to bed in (the name of which escapes me atm).

yeah im another in favor of bendix pads, not sure what model but one of them has a bad problem with throwing out alot of dust i think its the ultimates but i could be wrong.

as for being told you need someone qualified i suggest making a big sign saying i dot know what im talking about , please ignore me and sticking it the head of whoever told you that..i suggest changing out the brake fluid and bleeding your brake lines while doing pads, seems basic but not everyone does

Don't forget to check your rotors. Don't bother with machining as new ones are cheap.

i disagree with with comment, got mine machined all round for 80.00 last week, would have cost me 600.00 for new rotors all round if they need machining look around at what it will cost in your area before buying new ones unless they need replacing

You can pic up new rotors for around 40-50bucks but if the rotors arnt that far gone get them machined.

That is BS. have a look at all the tyre and exhuast places offering brake pad changes, the people changing those are tyre and exhaust fitters that have moved up the chain because people above them have left. They're no more qualified than my dog.

second of all, what brake pads would you recommend?

Pretty hard to go past these when you read the reports:
QFM Brake Pads
$79 per axle set for the HPX (roughly a Bendix Ultimate equivalent, without the dust and rotor wear). Until the end of the month half price rears if you need rears as well, which makes front and rear $131 delivered.

I don't hold back in my opinion of Bendix. I was forced to stock the GCT pads for a while when we used to supply to a local SAAB specialist, and still stand by my opinion that they're a classic example of a product that's developed by a company more concerned with full filling OEM contracts than giving a rats about aftermarket:

Out of all the pads we stock (Brakes : GSL RallySport, The Motor Sport Revolution!) it's QFM by an Aussie-made mile...

Cost me $60 to give the rotors a touch up on my VE the other day.
