a friend had extractors and a full sports exhaust put on his 5.0l VP today on the way home the check engine light came on it went off when he flogged the car but came back on agian a couple of minutes later.it's never come on before this would the extractors and exhaust have anything to do with it?? or is it just coincidence???????![]()

Your friend will need to do a fault code extraction to be sure (check out this thread for how to do it if unsure). I'll take a punt that he gets Code 44 or 45. Both those codes relate to the positioning of the oxygen sensor in his new extractors - a common problem for those who remove the stock exhaust manifold. That fault won't appear until the oxygen sensor warms up to operating temparature (a few minutes after startup).

Yeah it sounds like the Oxygen Sensor. It is in the extractors - Probably the most obvious reason, depends do a diagnostic test at his mechanic or Holdens and they will tell u no dramas.
Hope the car sounds phat, ne 5litre does so it would im sure....
All the Best and oxy wont cost that much, vn v6 i think for me was $80 buks something like that ne way check it out, if still havin problems post a new thread and im sure some of us commodore guys could give ur mate a understanding and get it bak 2 normal.![]()

same thing happened to me when i got my headers i don't think the o2 sensor likes being moved mine bought up error 13 $80.00 5 minutes work all good
