vn/vp rear speaker wires

gday guys.

i put some rear speakers into a mates vp but have found that i was unsure on the wiring to the speakers.

does anyone know the colours and polarity(+ or -) of the rear speaker wires.

Striped wire should always be negative, I only have an executive though, so not sure of factory colours. If you're unsure, download a speaker phase test (search google) in mp3 format, and burn it to an audio cd.

Another way to test phase/pairs of wire is to disconnect the wires from the headunit, and strike a AA battery across them, take note of which speaker moves, and which direction it moves in. If you touch the pointed end of the AA to one of the pair, and the speaker cone moves outward, you know that's positive.

ps: never hold the battery to the wires for too long, just quick taps, otherwise you risk overheating the coil.
