i recently acquired a VP Calais from someone in the family $1000 and it has 150,000 k's on it and it has a buggered diff (which is the first thing on my list to be done to it) but it also has been lowered and has a sports exhaust (do not ask for specs because i have no idea but i will be replacing everything) OK to the point i noticed and i have been doing quite a bit of research on this and i have not been able to find too many manual VP Calais it was just something i noticed after going through many forums of people's V P's and realized that nearly everyone has an automatic mine is automatic and i was just seeing if anyone had a manual as i am quite interested to see some
don't think there is such a thing as a factory manual calais, i've seen a couple of manauls, all converted but
i think they were some vn calais factory manual i may be wrong though

Your all wrong.
VN had more than 5 manuals. Available on both V6 and V8.
VP also had them, but there were less made than the VNs. There was a Red manual V8 VP Calais for sale a while ago.
Genuine factory manuals will have cruise control deleted, which is usually how you can tell the difference. They also have a different code on the plate which is the sealer.
I'd rather converted ones, considering Internationals weren't made in manual, and i love cruise control (both my cars are converted manuals)

Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
OK thanks for answering the question guys!! but it still leaves me with the question of whether i should stay with the automatic or whether it is worth my time and effort to get it converted down the line......in the long run i would love the manual but if its gonna cost me more then what it needs to be i will not bother with it......your help is greatly appreciated!!
Always worth the conversion to manual if you can D.I.Y.
I converted my Statesman in my driveway - best damn thing I ever did (aside from remove the power steering).

Both of my cars are converted.
I'll never buy another auto, unless the model is only released with an auto, then it will be converted.

I've seen a geninue VP Calais for sale before, probably the same one Stealthy saw, extreme rare but there was at least a few made. Lot's of VN's
I'm pretty sure back in the day of vn-vp it was a matter of the option box's that you ticked..... wish holden done that now![]()
The clubsport kit is the same as VP SS and VP Calais International, so look for parts from either/both of them, and you should find what you need. Its expensive finding the spotties tho, and some people think the kit is worth $1000 (i payed about $200 for mine)
The one i saw was a Red one. It had low k's, but the exterior was pretty thrashed considering. I think it was HSV enhanced aswell. One rare car right there!
Too right. In later models, i've heard of 'favours' being done for mates etc, like a manual Super6 VT S, but back in VN/P, just tick a box and your away (some models were even standard as manual, with Auto as the option)

OK i did some looking around i i really really really like the calais international body kit it looks nice and even looking at your car i think its the best looking kit around are they easy to find or am i gonna have to dig for one and really go the hard yards to get one
Should be easy enough, maybe even look at buying a rear ended SS from the auctions, and selling of the driveline/interior for a profit. And keeping the kit for your car![]()
