Hey guys,
Im wanting to get myself a new suspension setup to lower my wagon. The problem is Im unsure on the height. Wanting it to sit nice and even and look lower but at the same time be reasonably practical. Wondering if you guys could post pics of your ride and list what springs and struts you're using?
Im thinking on three options on springs:
- Superlows all round?
- Sports lows all round?
- Sports lows in the front and superlows in the rear?
All these springs setups with Monroe GT struts
Superlows all around - there's no other option:
Doesn't bottom out, handles like it's on rails, and looks legal (even though it's 1cm under the legal height with a full tank)
Front: Kings Superlows with Monroe GT GAS shocks
Back: Lovells Linear Superlows with Monroe GT GAS shocks
You can do better, but that setup is cheap and effective. I've heard good things about Bilstein if you have the extra money to throw around.
Keep in mind, in that pic, there's no spare in the boot, no jack, no sound deadening, and an almost empty tank of gas. Fully laden it's about 1-2cm lower.

New pedders sports rider suspension. short stroke shocks. Adjustable panhard rod.
Pedders springs. Very happy with the setup yet to come superlows front and back and new front shocks.
Thanks for the input guys. Just helps to get a better perspective on what setup Im after. One thing Im worried about is my 235's rubbing - especially in the rear. Is this a problem ? Great to hear SL's dont bottom outWas one thing I was worried about
And here's superlows at the front, and Lows at the back. I heart rake.

Hmmm... well there's an optionlol Nah I'll give that one a miss
That vp was damn sexy
Question is do you care about tucking tyre in the rear?
if not then lows
if a little then supers
if alot then ultra's
But pretty much 100% go supers in the front, as comfortable as stock (personally) but handle so much better....
I doubt you would want ultra's in the arse but ill post a pic anyway so you can see if you like the way the front sitssupers in the front and ultra's in the rear (all kings because i got them cheap) with pedders comfort shocks.....
I also have gas, a pretty heavy sub and it sits a bit lower in the back then in that pic....![]()

Cheers Rick. Thats really the setup Im after but probably not as low. Maybe sport low's in the front and supers in the rear. Looks like its sitting nice and even which I likeWouldnt mind some rim tuckage as well as an answer to your question.
Sorry Morton if I offended you about the VP. Just not a fan of rake lol How much are calais spats nd do you think they'd suite a wagon?
I have 235's all round and don't have have any trouble with rubbing. My guards are rolled. If you lower the car get an adjustable panhard rod and you shouldn't have problems with it.
I had a good long chat with a guy from Pedders yesterday about suspension and Superlow's are a sufficient enough height for the suspension and springs to perform at their best.
He told me when you go putting ultra low's all round and racing someone down the dandenong mountains the superlow will allow the suspension to perform better unlike Ultras which look drop dead sexy but cause it to bottom out frequently and have the cops on your tails about the bloody ride height.
But however make he decision that suits you best mate as this is just my advice on the subject hope this helps!!
$150-200 (Depends who you know) and 10mins installation very highly recommended. Sometime you will spend money on this and that and this and that and still can't work out why it scrapes. So this will be money well spent.
You will have them adjust it when you but it off them to suit your height at the time.
I'm no expert but i picked his brains for ages to know how everything works down there.
Morton has a point, you could put some spats on from a vp?
And i wouldn't worry about superlows bottoming out, my ultra's (rear) were pretty comfy until i loaded my car with caraudio and fuel etc etc, so superlows wouldn't be a problem... Never have a problem with the frontsride perfect
I still think superlows in the front
Btw what size are your rims? when i had 17's on my car looked like a 4wd in comparison to 15's lol and they wouldn't scrape on anything to be honest... But on 15's i scrape a shitload more....
So might be something to think about?
just for the fun of it, this is what the arse end looks like with no springs![]()

Don't think it would ride well lol.
lmao, take out the bumpstops and you should of been tucking rim lol... its sitting on bumpstops in that pic![]()
Hey padrickz88 what's going on in your pic of the rear end
The passenger side rear tire, is jammed hard up against the inner guard. An anjustable panhard rod should see that set straight haha
The front is a pedders setup and i think they are just lows with a pedders strut
The rear is some $40 gabriel gas ryders with some progressive superlow kings
Theres a few more pics in my ride, click the link in my sig and go to page 1 if you wanna see them
this is super super lows in front. ultra lows in rear.

I reckon those rear ultra's could do with a compress![]()
here is mine, it has lovells super lows or whatever lovells call them 2nd from the lowest ones, and munroe GT GAS rears, and ultima fronts. sits nice the front has 235 no hitting at all, and rear with 245 hit but 235 seem fine occasional scrapping of rear wheels when on funky angles but other than that fine, oh they are 18 inch wheels too.
Thats not too bad. Will definitely be considering it. Do most of the tyre places (eg. Bob Jane) adjust the panhard for you when you send it in for a wheel alignment?
Yep got 17's. Thats really good to hearI travel around 250 kilometers a week and was worried about how comfortable it may be. If you think yours is like a 4wd, mine must be a monster truck! Yeah think Superlow's allround is sounding like the best option right now. Was hoping this thread might help others in choosing their own setup too.
Thanks mate. That was the setup I was looking at but now I think I'd prefer Superlow's all round
Good to know that 235's wont scrub. I probably wont be going nearly as low as you have and I only have 17's, so scrubbing shouldnt be a problem. Your car looks sweet as btw
