But that's nowhere near as stylish (for some definitions of style)

Nice cover up dude, loved the material you used to fix it up. There won't be any more signs of rust now.
No he hasn't fixed the rust. Hopefully since the rust was painted etc. The Battery will be sitting on another layer of metal on top, the rust won't develop any further.
Might have been an idea to spray the rust affected area with zinc first then top coat.
    All good, nice job.
    Yours Kindly,
    Jim

yeah umm i did see the rust hasnt been fixed it was a poor attempt at humor that didnt convey well over the internet.

It wouldnt be the dodgey method if he fixed it properly

Nice man, gave me an idea. Rust is a bitch, I just sanded back my hole boot due to rust and put a few coats of wattyl rust-kill primer. Turned out smick, thinking of doing what you have done and kill the rust.

Personally I would of treated the rust before painting it, as the rust will most likely reappear.

Yeah thought about it but didn't even really want to spend any time on it at all. It's just a dodgy temporary fix really

If and when the rust returns, I'll do a better job.
