What do you guys think would be the best option, a new radiator or new side tanks,
Mine leaks when it feels like it, what i mean is, sometimes it will leak out of the tank then other times it wont, I think its geting blocked with crap.
I'd go the new radiator, new tanks fitted will cost almost as much as a new radiator.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
Ill fit the tanks my self, whats a radiator worth ?
i just bought a 52mm alloy radiator off ebay for $366 delivered and it looks the part....dunno whether youve got an 8 or a 6 but the standard 8 is a 40mm core and the heavy duty is a 48mm core which is $580 from my local natrad dealer....
ITs a 6 mate, so im guessing the tanks are the cheaper option.
yeah fitting tanks is easy. I paid about $50 for tank and seal and that was at the local rip off merchant.
You can take a tank of a bent radiator if you can get one cheap.
I use sealant on the oring just incase and vice grips to get a even squish on the tank.
If we are talking about a VP to VT V6 Radiator.
Brand spanking new I buy them from my Radiator guy in Adelaide for $165.
I think ebay has a few stores selling for about the same price, in Melb, Syd.
I am not sure where you are Davo.
Also the alloy cores are non repairable, (well thats what they tell me). So if you put new tanks they will have to be on a core that can accept the removal and re-fit.
I'd have it flushed while their off too. Seems alot of messing around for something not so expencive to replace.
Hope this helps.
OK, bit of an update, i tracked the leak down, turns out its the core its self that leaks, not the tank.
Went to the wreckers picked up one for $30 with a leaky tank ( barely weaps ) So i might just change over a tank from my old one.
Did the ring around, cheapest for a new tank is 170, most expencive is 250, $70 just for a tank lmfao
Im in Brisbane BTW
