The oil pump is what the oil filter attaches to. You need to cake the gears with Vaseline to get the thing to generate enough suction to get the oil out of the sump. Once it is primed you are fine. Have you checked that the sender/gauge etc is functioning correctly?

Is it possible that your oil pickup is blocked? On rare occasions chunks of crap can fall down into it and cause issues. Pain removing the sump to check, though.

Did you do this when you put the pump in, if not then thats why you have no oil pressure.

regulator ie relief valve and spring are built into the pump I suggest you prime the pump and remove oil pressure sender and fit a mechanical pressure gauge to that spot best way to check physically that you have oil pressure
