Default My 1990 VN (ex cop car)

    Hey there,
im james and ive been on my red p plates for about 8 months now. I got this car just after i got my p plates and it looked like CRAP. Well please have a look now and tell me your thoughts.

Its only got 121,000 on the odo and it is my first car. I always get teased about the colour but i really do not think it looks that bad myself, and at least i know it will rip their jap hatchcraps in a drag. I polish it once a fortnight and try to keep it in the best condition i can. When i get the cash together im getting it:
    -Sprayed black
    -Dark tint
    -Bigger chrome rims

Please rate and tell me what u think and what it needs thanks!

So a few things ive done to it so far:
    - Sound system of course (cbf going into detail)
    - Lowered (not too low)
    - New air intake filter
    - New pumps and filters for everything
    - New radiator
    - 2.5 inch exhaust from cat back
    - resprayed boot inside (bit dirty atm though)
    - put vt rims on it
    - replaced rubbers ect, just lots of small things ive done
    - also notice the black painted strip on each side of the rear window. Well i had my back windscreen smashed so i used it as an opportunity to fix all rust and all leaks.

    Pictures....

not a big fan of the color either but its nice and clean and can tell you look after it, i didnt realize the v6 bt1's got an 80ltr fuel tank, you should paint it like ive done, it makes the vn's look tougher i reckon.

also whats the reservoir on the right hand side next to the pod for? looks like an overflow for the radiator but none of the vn s1's ive seen have ever had one there as you got the reservoir already on the left side.

dude low enough for the time being.
clean the engine bay and look for the leak out of the radiator bottle.
detail the pullies on the engine and plate for accelerator cable.
replace cover on fuse and get it airbrushed.
Do something about the pod and bottom of the air box, looks wrong.
put vp bonnet struts on it.
move the amps off the subwoofer boxes. the vibration can damage them.
    Looks good on the outside.
rear lh tail ligt is going to get you attention of the blue fuzzy kind soon, it's fading.
rope is not the prefered method of holding stereo gear in.
you are well on your way.

    Hey man,

    Nice first car...

I didn't get to have my VN until my 4th car

As everyone else has already mentioned, Its nice and clean - just needs a few minor details tidied up and it'll be sweet.

I can't decide if i like the colour, It's strange.

It'll be interesting in black, put pics up once its done.

I probs woulda left it as it is (just cos its different) or gone silver lol.

    Anyways - Congrats.

Yeah! Leave colour as is, ceptors on, and lower it so theyre juuuust tucking under the gaurds, maybe even a whitewall on the tyres.

That would be uber cool IMO.

To each his own i guess.

if this was my car i would
    - replace pod filter with cai
    - get matching taillights
    - spray garnish black (10 minutes)
    - remove pinstriping from bumpers (5 minutes)
    - remove holden badge from grill (2 minutes)
    - buy some boot carpet

then i would leave it at that . i can't believe you're even thinking about a respray! such a beautiful colour... and don't ever buy a red car if you're worried about polishing. i made that mistake twice in a row
