History:
Well, after my beloved VP V6 was rear ended, i needed a new car.
Enter 'manhattan' stage right.
Picked this baby up for a pretty penny and paid out my arse as i needed something quick. Its not a bad unit all round, needs love in a few areas but so do most cars that are 17years old. Not really THAT impressed with the V8. got some grunt but overall it feels sluggish. Needs a good sproosing up but itll get there with love!!!
So, after constantly hearing comments such as "**** off, you dont even own a five litre.." turns out now i do hahaha... still got the V6 and depending on when insurance sorts itself out, i may or may not still have it.
Modifications To Do:
(In no particular order)
- Roof Respray
- Sunroof
- Boot Respray
- Several Bushes
- Trans Service
- New Lifter Somewhere in right bank
- Fix Stezza
- New Tint... badly
- Transfer VT interior from V6
- Adjust Suspension to correct lower height
- GTS Body Kit
- Get Rid of the Rattles
- Replace window 1 of cluster (LCD)
- Re-DO Exhaust as its a little noisey...but still sexy
- New Steering wheel so im not driving a boat
- El Thermos
- Gilmer Belt Kit
- VS Washer Assembly
- Aftermarket overflow
- Hot Earth Kit
- Finally put my GroupA brakes on something
^^ List is a little extensive but there is a few things to do lol...
Aaaaaannnnnnnnnnddddddddddddddd.... Pictures...

wooooo a berlina lx witha 5L, im impressed![]()
Nice VP mate!
Thanks Guys,
Photos dont do it justice... nor do they show its issues hahahah
It will be fun getting it to the level that i will be happy with.. costly i imagine too...
Trans is giving me the shizzies, slips around a bit. Think its because its really overful but have yet to remove fluid from it.
Want a manual but im thinking ill go fully manualised auto with some sort of B&M Shifter... needs some research in that department however.
Not to bad on fuel, 650kays from ~65litres

nice pick up man, def go a manual conversion, if ya get a kit for the right price it would end up not being much more than rebuilding an auto, get some more pics up too![]()
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
Hmm see the trouble is finding the damn kits... its a fair hassle to source that stuff.
I have a pedal box + clutch cable,
i would need:
Flywheel
Box
Clutch
Bellhousing
First half of tailshaft
few other bits...
it would be nice... but so would be a fully manualised auto + strengethening...
Ill see what comes along at the time i start investing money into this project.

lol no... was gonna do the V6, was getting it all sorted, just needed some time adn then i got arsed so now im all like.... they can go on the V8 hahahah
Noticed tonight that my boot leak is a lot worse than i thought and im going to have to do a bit of work to rid myself of it
Some rust has developed in some areas too so:
1. All wet carpet has been removed and a mould killer sprayed around to take that musty smell away
2. Need to seal rear 1/4's
3. Need to seal top of tail lights
4. Need to ensure boot lid spoiler is sealed also
5. Cut rusty bits out (hardly any)
6. Use some sort of anti-rust chemicle
7. Re paint wirebrushed areas
8. Enjoy a dry boot

looks good man clear side indicators and lose the trolley strip i rekon
shhh now PUPPET
definately leave the side strips. will look like an everyday exec without them, and if you remove them, youll notice every little ding from idiots that tap your door with theirs

Yep cars without side strips look home brand, This looks like a good machine, it doesn't take much effort at all to bang some serious power out of one, just start with some new spark parts although with the economy you are getting it must be pretty good as is
yeah its not bad... the crank is a little slow motion some times and it rev hunts a little... still banging my head on things with v8's... differenet world to v6's...
Gonna hit you up for a memcal at some point too.. see if we cant grab a few killer wasps from the old girl.
Trolley strips are staying, i like crome :P
aZk.
ok i understand about the trolley strips (chrome) wat about the wing
shhh now PUPPET
you can only see one tiny part of the wing in one photo. what makes you think it looks so bad? leave it on there

I allways think about pulling the wing off mine but in the end it was there when the car was new so that's how it is and since it wont look any better with it off I leave it there. The slow crank will be the solenoid getting hot, mine used to do that but doesn't anymore, all I've done is change the exhaust around a few times
The headers will be the VN/Early VP/HSV ones if they look horriblethey actually work ok! (better than pacemakers in alot of the rev range), The solenoid is on the starter and there's a heat sheild on it allready (I took it off mine and it made it no worse/better?! ). What you need to make it a 14 second car is. VS Series 2 airbox lid, rubber hose and CAI, Tune (I might sponsor you one since I like the car
) and a 2.5 inch straight through cat back. Then it'll run in the 14's and do aboutttttt 6.2 0-60 mph. Oh and you need a corvette servo in it if it's slipping from 1st-2nd, if it's slipping everywhere well then you are in trouble. The car seems to have factory FE2?
5L Berlina LXs FTW
Def go a manual conversion. That 'not impressed by the 5L' feel is the auto trans. I love driving mine, never sluggish![]()
