Hi all. Well, this started life as a 127000km VPSS, was pretty mint when I bought it but after 11 short weeks I hit a bank at 190kph, rolled it multiple times including end for end & came to rest 30m from the point of impact.
I've also attached the picture of when I first bought it then when I rolled it.
Anyway, I picked up a VP V6 Calais shell & started again. The entire car was stripped out to a totally bare shell with the doors off before getting sprayed Monaro Yellow inside & out. Not alot of the original car was salvagable so I got a job at our local Commodore wreckers & built it with the best bits (in my opinion) from all sorts of models. Donor cars include VQ Caprice, VXSS, VP200 Clubsport, VX Clubsport, VNSS, VS Berlina & VN Calais.
What I liked about using a Calais shell is it had climate air & adjustable wiper delay.
It took about 6 months to get the car back on the road but the build was ongoing for the following 3yrs with minor adjustments & changes as I found some things were not up to the job... like the Nolathane strut tops for example; kept on tearing the centres out of them.
I fitted a VS front as I like the fatter gaurds & then procured a carbon/kevlar Group A front airdam (at a huge cost). The rear wing is an authentic Group A adjustable unit, the rear bumper is aftermarket VX Clubby style along with the sideskirts.
Engine is a VP200 black motor that was fully rebuilt with 11.46:1 compression, forged pistons, prepped rods with ARP bolts, fully balanced, Isky solid cam, JP double row roller timing set, JP h/v oil pump, Crane rollers, VT dissy, Group A TTB with Cosworth 400cc injectors, Walbro in-tank fuel pump, Autronic ECU with updated program, lightened steel flywheel etc; power is 332rwhp @ 6800 with 780Nm of torque. The car is also fitted with an EFI NOS system but was not used on the dyno.
The nitrous system is an NOS system consisting of a Hi-Flo 10lb bottle fitted with a remote valve control, purge & was running a 160hp gain. You can see the controls in the front ashtray.
Brandnew factory V8 radiator fitted with a VS electric fan.
Engine bay/engine wiring was completely redone & hidden.
It runs a small dry cell battery in the stock location.
Alloy engine breather tank.
Gearbox is a T5 that has been stripped & all the gears shotpeened.
Clutch is a custom job; staggered 6 finger paddle clutch with hi-tensile solid centre & ceramic tips.
Custom made 2300lb pressure plate.
Diff head is a 3.46 LSD out of a 6spd VXSS.
Brakes are brandnew VN Group A fronts & VP200 rears.
All the suspension is custom made by King (special order) with 850lb fronts & 320lb rears.
Shocks are externally adjustable Konis that have been revalved with anti-droop valving.
Front swaybar is also a custom made 32mm unit.
All bushes are Nolathane with the exception of the Noltec spherical bearing strut tops (not fitted in this photo).
Z-bars are custom made adjustable units.
Front x-member has had the lower arm holes welded up & redrilled to gain more camber.
Wheels are FR18 Simmons; 18x8.5 all round with 265/35/18 tyres all round.
Seats are from a 1 owner VN Calais.
Momo steering wheel.
35% tints.
Door cards are from a VQ Caprice along with the drivers side glove compartment.
Instrument panel is VP200 HSV unit.
Dynatron alarm.
When the car was rebuilt I replaced all ball joints, tierod ends etc along with all the lights were bought new.
Power steering was completely rebuilt (rack & pump).
Stereo is Panasonic CD with sub control, Alpine speakers, Alpine V12 amps (x2).
Exhaust is HSV VP200 headers leading into twin 2" with twin Flowmasters back into single 3.5" with Coby resonator & VX Clubby tip.
Basically I wanted a skidcar that had a nice comfy interior, went like hell, handled like it's on rails, stopped on a dime & had the look of a racecar.
It has been on display over here at the V8 Supercars in the Holden marquee in the past & was referred to by the commentators as 'The nearest thing to a road-legal racecar'
I wont mention what the total $ spent is but it is between $80k-110k.
Since these photo's i've sold the motor & box & it's getting repowered with a single turbo LS1 & tricked TH350... more power is the aim; somewhere in the 700hp range hopefully.

Was driven almost daily to work when the VP200 motor was standard, after it's rebuild it became a bit of a mission to drive regularly... the cam was very eratic & with the solid clutch it lurched alot at low speed. After the rebuild it really only came out on the weekends, burnout comps & the odd private circuit day.
