this is my vp calais, i've always wanted an aero but wanted big wheels and comfort too so i went with a cooner vp calais to start my project because of the IRS set up means its really great to drive.
first off i lowered it a few inches all round added some pacemakers and a 2.5inch exhaust with the big chrome tips. A mild cam and chip package , a gilmer drive setup , a 16inch thermo fan pulling the air in to the radiator with a 14 inch thermo on the other side pushing it in . the air con was removed to increase air flow as well as make room under the bonnet. an air pod was later added however im planning on some custome pipework to run behind my bumper. next i stripped it down removed everything i ddnt need fitted straightened it out the best i could and covered it in 4 layers of alpine white and fitted the kit. admittidly, i painted it on a 40C day but i needed the car ready for my wedding so i didnt have much choice too much to do in such little time new headlights indicators and tail lights.
temp considering, the paint still turned out no too bad its no show car though. The hood lining was sagging so i stripped out the whole interior retrimmed the lining and while it was out i ran my battery to the boot so i could use a truck battery instead od a little car battery and started on the stereo with a kenwood deck with usb port 2 sony amps 2 rampage 12 inch subs and cadence splits with an extra pair of tweeters gives out an awesome amount of sound and forever finding myself closing my fuel cap cos the bass open it. Getting ready for a new gearbox (once them sprints boys find me my parts) i fitted the B&m shifter and autogage shift light tacho and put the interior back in the best i could. I then took it to the auto trimmers so they could make me the custom boot to go around the shifter, unfortunately i dont know how to use a sowing machine and i really hate anyone touching my car lol. I was lucky to have bought the car already fitted with an lsd which when i serviced it was in really good nick but my next thing i want is to get the trans done pull the motor and box out together so i can give it new gaskets and a tidy up and fit some 4.11s in the arse .
i dont think i will ever finish but i love the car its a pleasure to drive and i built it myself....
I like it, and DIY always feels better ay
