With reverse its proberly normal, ill take a look next time if you want. But ive had my gearboxed recoed for $900 but got quoted for $500 recently.

Ok, cheers man. If i grab a case && new seal, would you come up to mine (Or we go somewhere else and nick someones engine hoist) and fix the seal if i get a few more people in on it?

Got new tyres for VPC now.

rears are 245/50/16 and fronts are 225/50/16

Will put them on when i get center caps and wheel nuts

Are they the same wheels you had for sale, they look like they cleaned up well if they are, and suit it well. Or was that VKJonno, i always get you guy's confused.

This weekend we all dropped the trans out, Clutch & fly off and found that the rear main is fine, Its the sump gasket. Clutch is rooted so picking up a newie in about 2 hours, Bellhousing is full of oil and the sump gasket is rooted, Also the back sump bolts were finger tight.

D3CID3R also started on the stereo, About 15kg of wire alone

Thats a pretty nice find! As for reverse crunching thats normal. The T5 has an unsyncronised reverse. Meaning when selecting reverse all youre doing is sliding a straight cut gear (idler gear) in between two more straight cut gears located on the mainshaft and laygear, causing both to turn in the same direction. So if youve just stepped on the clutch and straight away tried to jam it in reverse while everythings still turning, you naturally get a crunch. To stop this either select any other gear first (usually 4th or 5th) or hold the clutch in until everything stops turning. I can hear mine when it stops, and go again if I let the clutch back out. Dunno if thats normal or not could just the input shaft bearing wearing out lol its not really that noticeable though. Then if you find it wont go into reverse, with a small amount of force hold the stick towards reverse and gently let the clutch out. Its just the idler gear wasnt aligned with the others.

Ill try that next time. What i do now is depress the clutch, release & repeat slowly a couple of times when its cold.

I should probably just learn to reverse in the driveway next time for a cold morning start.

Then we took the car for a test drive with the 245's and a car load, bad mistake, 100m up the road is all we got, rubber up the guards, smoke coming out the guards and this:
