Ebs pictures, but got the transmission in tonight, upgraded the front swaybar and threw in a fresh fuel pump.
Sounds good out of the extractors at 6000rpm ^_^
More importantly the p/s delete bracket held up and ran straight, so one less thing to worry about![]()

Had some fun here riding passenger with morton
What you can't tell on camera is that he is coming at 120kph just before the corner on both those runs and sliding smoothly out on the last corner.
I'll let him explain the car details when he cbf (wakes up)
EBS on a 1am start next time morton, even if we were the first 3 people there![]()
Looks Sweet man, looks like it handles pretty good aswell.

Just because I've been inactive in here, doesn't mean I'm not ferreting away in the background making preparations
This project is SO far from forgotten.
The last months have been spend doing frantic research into my options, and nagging suppliers for ideas and availability of things they've never heard of.
Don't ask, but after at least a hundred hours' hard work, I've been able to source ALL of the following for under $600:

Cheers some_guyIt's not really all that amazing when you realise I have a small handfull of things after two months' work ^_^
Bz Kn33z, the return is 1/2" oil hose, flowing through a barbed fitting that threads in at 3/8" BSP to the top of the sump![]()

Tonight on backyard mechanic. Hozy takes photos, Morton fits in small places and Robbos is scared of sparks...
Ok so, I'm tired... But If I was to explain tonight in ONLY 4 images out of the 30'odd that I took. It would be these...
More will come later, But for tonight...
This is more than enough for you to know what is happening.
Cheers
Mat

How I've always done it. Even penetration, no slag on the inside, doesn't warp the tube, cleans up well.

is much prettier nowbeen 6 hours since i left him working on it, who knows wtf has occurred in that time frame
Many more ghetto hours in the shed have resulted in a bit more progress. Turbo is now hard mounted, exhaust side has begun, cooler bracket in fabrication etc.
Once everything is 100% finalised, everything will be disassembled and given a second hotter going-over with the welder now that I'm confident I'm not going to leave any rubbish inside the pipe with my poor Mig skills.
Solution to lack of good intercooler brackets was to drill 2x holes in the top tank. Tap them with a thread, and insert two M12 bolts from the INSIDE, coated with a generous layer of JB Weld. Bolts were notched in the end of the thread with a groove for a screwdriver, then inserted through the cooler inlet pipe with a length of wire wrapped losely around the hex of the bolt with blu-tack. Force the bolt up against the tapped hole, and pull through with screwdriver. Then the exposed end was coated in more JB and tightened down with another nut. That sould hold it up with some nice brackets ^_^
ETA one month until running.
To do:
injectors, map sensor, oil relocation, oil cooler, oil feed lines, surge tank, external pump, battery relocation, intercooler piping, turbo oil return to sump, etc etc.

I'm actually going to be running a Z418, they're marginally smaller than a Z89a, but they're cheaper and the same thread. I have to run something with the same thread as a Z9 because that's what all the Derale relocation kits come supplied with. Z154 won't spin on. I'll be changing the filter after every session anyway, so element size doesn't matter.
People run smaller filters because they want the cars to get up to pressure faster on startup. This is a car that's going to be warmed up thoroughly every time it's driven, so there's no issue with low oil pressure for five-six seconds. Engine won't be loaded, and turbo will be at idle.![]()
