My VP Calais V8

Right so here is my first V8 commodore (:

Bought this the day before my 19th B'day last year, except it broke down in ballarat ): But eventually I got it home.
Got it for $1900
Has 253,XXX Kms on it.
Auto, 5.0L

This is how it looked when I got it:









When It died on the side of the freeway -.-
I got it towed to a RAA depot thing and they told me I had to get a new starter motor, fuel pump, belts and battery.
(Even though the dealer I bought it from said it was all fine -.-)

So once I got it back home, I bought a starter motor, fuel pump and belts.

My BF josh (DUD3), done the starter motor and belts but a mechanic friend said the battery is fine so woo

Took off the grandpa spec window/rain protector thingys




Btw, Its on gas too...

Bought a fan shroud for $40 (:
Then a new steering wheel: VN SS one? for $88





Next came the fuel pump:


(Yep... that was the fuel in the tank lol)


Still not on the road yet ): But very close to it!!

Bought new tyres, A new parcel shelf (VS one $15) because the person before me put a mass hole in it for a 10 inch sub. Gunna put in a middle seat belt too.
Also needed a new middle brake because the previous owner drilled in a random blue gem to it?! Got one for $20.
Oh yeah.. Needed back window motors because they were broken. Haven't put them in yet but i got these for $11.11 each! lol
Soo.. I think thats it for roadworthy. Don't know if the tint will pass though...

Bought a grille for it. Ill take a photo later once its in and show.
Got a head unit for xmas (: No more casettes!

Josh put it in the other day for me (: Looks good, Once again Il take a photo and upload later

Had the car 5 months and only just figured out there was a random ford amp under my passenger seat... lol oops.



Right now the interior is apart so i need to put it back lol




Future Plans?
Lower it: Ultra Low in rear, Superlow in front
I have 17 inch rims but I think I will use my 15 inch calais wheels and put some whitewalls on them.
Want a VP Calais front grille eventually
Better sub and amp
Paint for it. New bonnet..
Tinted VP calais rear lights from a place called top spot. lol
And matching garnish

FINALLY!!!!! ITS ON THE ROAD!!!!! And.... the tint passed :O well actually it didnt... but the inspection guy forgot to check it! haha. I was backing out when the guy goes: "oh shit, should probably check that tint" Me: "Ah crap..." guy: "Hmm so your tint is at 18% it's meant to be 35%" me: "Damn. ): no drivable car for me.." guy: "no i wont be mean and take it away.. just be warned if you get pulled over and the police check it you"l be defected" .............. "okay il be sure to change it to legal tint *coughwhen/if im defectedcough*"

Thanks, I do too, came with them. Next is putting the rims on the car.. But then either to lower or paint. Not sure.

LOL. I am a female. My boyfriend Josh (DUD3) (Owns the red vn s 91') taught me everything and got me hooked (:.... I actually owned a 94' magna before I met him haha

That petrol looks like muddy water.. Did it take long to remove the tank and drain the crap out?

didnt take long to get the tank out, getting it back in was a bit harder.

tommorow involves fixing the drivers window regulator. seemed a bit jumpy and wobbly. then stopped going up all the way.

maybye a broken rivet or something, hopefully.

Did you have to get new Rubber for the tank neck? What lights are you using a well cos they look really bright

So took my car to the mechanics to get an inspection (:

Went to pick it up and he gave me two pages of things to fix! Lol... Buut he said nothing was major so woo (:

So some things to do, but not that expensive to do... And the mechanic said my car was real nice on the outside even with the screwed bonnet, roof and boot and the interior was heaps nice so its worth fixing. That makes me happy (:

Hahaha yeah I've become heaps attached. Yeah i never see them for sale ever. getting it painted hopefully in a month or two. love the burgundy <3

Good job!!! When you paint it take engine out and do rear main and paint bay as well so much easier haha. Should be great when done but :-)

Can't say I have ever had 2 pages for a roadie.. Bent rack and main seal would be the major prob and fixes.. You going to do the main seal your self?

Lol well actually... That's how much executives were when they came out. calais' on the other hand were about $38, 176 new... So ive saved a shit load more (:
And The guy at the mechanics knows us so he just gave us some tips on how to do it ourselves haha. But its not too expensive. The tie roads and all that are suprisingly not costly at all.

I like having something that I can fix. My old car was a peice of crap when I got it and I fixed it up. Then the engine died anyway... lol so i put a new one in and sold it for heaps more and i see it around town and im so proud i did that <3 lol Is that strange??
