can u explain abit more about what computer system u have installed. example hows its running off ur car, do u have extra batteries? operating system and just the general specs. also those hard wires out of ur amp. i like those.
ok, the pc system is as follows:
Via m10000 mini itx 1ghz motherboard, onboard everything, vga, sound, lan, usb
512mb ddr sdram
8" lilliput vga touchscreen
Dlink wireless lan usb stick
GPS module
currently runs a mini 300watt ac powersupply off an inverter, sometime i will replace both with a dedicated dc powersupply.
stock vn battery
OS
Xp professional
Roadrunner front end = plays dvds and movies with mediaplayer classic, plays cds/mp3s with winamp.
destinator 3 maps with mapmonkey as front end
the hard wires for the amp, i love em, got the idea from the pioneer monaro, all they are is 4mm solid steel rod found at your local scrap steel place, i paid %1 for about 2 meters of it, then you just get to it with some steel wool and polish it, then bend it to shape.
i have probably forgot something with the pc, so just ask
oh, and sorry about spelling.
Love the dash cluster dude!!!!![]()
Looks awesome!
The Comp and switches look at home where you put em.
Looks almost factory.
Good work!!!![]()
Stoke my ego, click the scales!!!
Stoke it!!!!
LOVE IT!!!!!
thats what i was going for, nice simple factory look, thanks for the compliments.
thats awesome. can u post a close up pic of how they are connected to the amp. im very interested in hooking mine up like it. And how much did the touch screen cost ya??
screen cost me around 380 from memory, that was shipped from hong kong. now the rods connect to the amp by simply slottong into the hole, and screw tightened to keep it there, these are the best pics i have of where the bars connect to the box, using spring loaded terminals, and to the amp.
sweet jesus.... i woulda gone with just putting a laptop in the car but whoah :P dosnt the pc overhead??? i mean they're wouldnt be the best air flow in that glove box...
nice work tho...VERY nice work
lol, i know what you mean, but i wanted to do it right, because its a mini-itx motherboard, its low power, so doesnt overheat too much, and i put a fan n the side to suck air out of the glovebox. dont have any pics though.
Lovin' the wagon. Could do with some rims and maybe some painted bumpers. The interior looks great!
Wouldn't the PC's hard drive get knocked around when driving over bumps?
I love the look of the 'hard wires?" running from your amp.... can you buy them commercially or did you get them custom-made?
Troy(hakhawk) custom made the hard wires from amp to sub's, I saw & touched them and felt the vibrations of his wagon on sundayOhhh the vibratiosn lol
Cheers

i tried a local stereo shop first, thinking they would've done something similar before, but they just looked at me in wonder.
That simple eh, does the sound quality drop at all? What about electric shocks from the wires when u touch them,?
nope and nope. havent shorted them, havent been zapped, might be losing a bit thru them, but no more then normal wire, if anything the connectors have biggest loss.
But I guess they will lose sound quality if they are very long (just as cheap speaker wire)
There will probably be a bit more loss than with normal speaker wire, as the material probably won't be as conductive.
Still, awesome setup.
Also, did you coat the wires with some form of anti-rust formula? Scrubbing the wires with steel wool will take off the surface rust but if there's alot of moisture in the air, the rust will come back in the scratches made by the steel wool unless you have sealed the outside with something.
Seems like you've put alot of work into the PC setup, I love it. I was considering something like that, but I was also thinking of putting a second fan in the actual glove box lid sucking air in. That way, I have air going in and coming out, constant airflow is awesome for keeping the temperature regulated.
yeh, there probably is more loss, but its not noticeable, if i built it purely for competition, then id get something better.
i havent coated the wires with anything yet, i plan to..... sometime. i have to polish them first, then juts spray it minus the ends with clearcoat.
yeh, i have put a lot of work into it, and i actually have a fan to suck air into the glovebox, makes a huge difference. its a small 6cm i think, off a old p2 heatsink, i cut a hole on the right side of the glovebox, near the top, and it sucks the air through the gaps in the side.
hey mate
any other ideas where you could put an amp in a wagon, i was goin to put it under the seat but id have to raise the seat. plus i cant undo the screws on it neway.
ray
dunno, maybe in the spare wheel spot? some guys screw them to the back of the back seat.
Could always build a small compartment on the sub-box to hold the amp. If the box is the right shape, and it's big enough, you can just screw it onto the side of the box.
