I brought a spare tank from a guy that was wrecking a VQ. i then got my Mechanic to spary it up with the help from his mate.

Its not that hard just uno the straps ( couple of bolts) and i think it was 3 hoses and the wires for the fuel pump. i didnt put the painted one in i took the one out of the wreck. if you have a tow bar that might be in the way 2.

yeah it has an internal pump and an external they aint cheap either over $200 each as i found out.

be careful of the metal pipe that is welded to the tank ( i think there was 3 on top and one at the back) as one of mine was a little loose and i had to get it welded back on. That cost me $200 as they have to de-gas ( petrol +flames= boom ) the tank so they could weld it.

Nice stato dude, she is a real credit to you, you have put in alot of hard work there and by the sounds of it done most of it yourself. cant wait to see the consol when finished, the tank looks great, in fact the whole car is a pearler. what do you mean by spacers to fit different rims, i managed to fit 19x8 roh furrys with just a slight tap of the sledge hammer, ok about 30 taps, to the rear inner guard and chassis rails then repainted it black where all the tar stuff fell off. my wife has my stato now after i got vx r8, you can see it under my ride - more pics r8 clubby. good on ya again its SWEEEEEEET!!

thanx mate page 3 has the console all finished i try to do most of the stuff myself but i know when things are a little out of my league all get a pro to do it.

You can get rims to fit on the stato but like you said a few taps ( VQ 's have a wierd off set and most wheels dont fit). Rather than doing that im going to get a VS stato irs which will bring the wheels out 15mm. That means no tappin the inner gaurds and my k frame has a crack in it anyway so ill do a few other things while im down that end of the car

Sounds like you got it all sorted, some people dont like the hammer method thats fair enough. wont your wheel now sit 15mm closer to the outer guard? and at full travel, being irs, push that wheel up on an angle and may touch at some other spot, ie - face of rim make contact with inside rear wheel arch. just a thought. Im sure you will suss all this out anyway!

It will be 8mm each side so 16mm in total. I do see your point but with the right off set rim shouldnt have any dramas. The rims that are on there can come out about 15mm each side so i got plenty of room. if that dont work then ill use the hammer

cool, dont want to see you rip the rear wheel arch moulding off the Statesman, as you got 2 small studs with nuts and washers there as well holding the moulding to the car.

my bumper was painted not that long ago so the bugs just come off when i wash it. i do polish it every month or so but i found turps works well to get some marks off the car and if the fails i use some cut and polish.

The Buldge is red at the moment but i might use a $2 can of white spray paint on it to see what it'll look like on the car then ill make up my mind. i think it would look ok one the car without the emblem but not sure with it on there
