will post more as it comes along
Did you paint the rear bumper yourself man?
Looks good tho, will be good to see it with the rest of the kit on man![]()
nice mate, sounds like you got it all planned out and have ur sights set firmly on the end result...keep goin with it![]()
when i got the car the paint on both bumpers was rooted, removed tow bar mounts. cost me about $1000 out of pocket just to get it back on the road (new windscreen, pads and rotors ect...)
hoping to have some new wheels next year...
update: side skirts have been cast and shipped today, should have them in 3-4 days

Hey man you get the side skirts yet?
Congrats on your car. You've brung it a long way from when you bought it and im sure u'll take it alot further. Good stuff man
Nice job!! I have the same year and model and hope to be doing some mods also. $$$ are a factor right now but seeing other ppl doing up their rides gives me that little bit of inspiration to put that extra few dollars away each week to finally get something together. Keep us updated on future progress. Nice work...
hehe still waiting for side skirts to arrive, were ment to come today or tommorrow... its 5pm now so i assume they'll come tommorrow...
the project started for me today...
CalaisIX, there is soo much you can do to these cars, and ALOT you can do your self, dump her :P throw some rims on and maybe a kit and your set.. everythings all good inside already :P dont need to waste time converting to calais hehe, when i started i had no $$ aswell, things just came up, like the rear bar for $32, and the front grille for $40.. just keep a eye on the wreckers and look for stuff that might be useful to repair your car/improve it.. cheers
progress so far, rear bumper is mounted ... securely.....
Tuesday 4th July: hopefully recieve the side skirts and glass the exhust holes in them up, also repair rear bumper crack... and sand down ready for spraying
Wedensday 5th July: spray side skirts & rear bumper
Friday 7th July: finish spraying
hoping to have the front bar shortly, got rego due soon so it might have to wait... also getting a EEPROM & EPROM burner next week to burn a chip
the old one has a metal brace in it, weighs a ton.. new bumper weighs about 5kg, old one weighs about 15-20kg, one wonder the calais had a extra 70kg :P (not sure if exec's have the metal brace too)
ive got some pictures now... rear end sits NICE and low.. but not too lowexactly where i wanted the rear end.. im just afraid it'll be too low elsewhere
heres some pics to keep you going... (play spot the P plate and see why i dont get targeted by police :P)
OK OK, i woke up thismorning and decided to go check the mail, the deliveryman put the skirts infront of my flywiredoor, preventing me for getting them from that door (*shakes fist lol*)
anyway got the skirts and unwrapped them...
will have more fun playing with them today, i will post more pics when they're on the car![]()
Side skirts are now mounted..... not as easy as i thought,
the skirts came with no premade mounts, so i had to drill them, the passengerside were harder than the drivers side, gotta do a bit of remounting tommorrow but its looking promising
looks Bloody low.. but not too low
spraying tommorrow boys![]()
Looks good...you gonna leave the door trim on with it or rip it off?
heh, ill take a picture of my custom door trim tommorrow, still alot of work to go *sigh*
rear bumper needs to be mounted better, can feel it rattling a bit,
anyway, tommorrow its gonna get sprayed, apparently they'res a meet in nudawadding macca's tommorrow night, not sure if she'll be ready by then but im working my hardest,
judgying by the difficulty of getting those skirts onto the car, ill be spraying them on the car and just jacking it up to do underneath, if i sprayed them off the car id certinally damage the paint trying to get the bloody things back on,
as for the wheel arch flares, ive decided i dont like them hehe, i might sell them... $20 for both if anyone wants them (brand new)
they cost me $40 and i got them today, but ive decided i dont like them as im going for my own custom look, not group A
alot of work still ahead of me, time to hit the sack and prepare for tommorrow!
Nice work man.
ok ok hehe, paint was fairly cheap
got quoted $65 for 1L of acrilic paint told them i was going to the bank and never went back :P
got it from autobahn for $50 p/l
got 4L of thinners
so far ive sprayed the skirts and thats about it... unfourntually, i couldnt see the clear coat and put too much on one of the skirts so thats gonna need to be sanded out
its looking mint, perfect match goin back saturday to spray the rear bumper and i MIGHT be getting a SS skirt for the front no idea yet see what happens,
and 1L of paint when diluted is more than enough for a rear bumper and side skirts...
if anyone intends to paint clear coat remember to put 2:1 thinners:clear coat as its thick stuff
overall a strenous day, but well worth it, just gonna let the paint harden now and was it in a few days with some respraying to come on saturday... i have a silver wheel :S
looking good mate, where were you monday night?

UPDATE, the rocker was loose, had nothing to do with oil, some IDIOT who had the car before me failed to bolt one rocker back on properly, and over time it worked its way up the thread untill it came too loose to hit with the pushrod... after bolting it back on and goin round the block its perfect
BUT also scored some 200,000km heads and inlet manifold not keeping the engine, gonna experiment with porting the heads and probbly change the valve springs and valves then slap it in when im ready, try and get some life out of this engine and more power![]()
