Nice VN man, looks like a Berlina with that door trim
That is an SS kit as well, looks good, subtle and classy
VN Power!
OK, well I have put some pics up previously in the VN section, but as the project is growing, I figure I may as well start my own thread and update as things change.. Anyway here is the info.
1989 VN Commodore - Not sure what it is (Exec, S, Berlina), but it has full power options, and states it is a limited edition V6.
Engine - Stock
Suspension - Slightly lowered but other then springs - Stock
Body - I think it is the SS kit
Wheels - 18" Rodney Jane Racing Wheels with pretty average tires.
Exterior pics
Some of my old favorite pics
Interior
My white face air con gauges
Just bought this VN HSV Steering wheel.. It is the one I am having problems getting put on tho ...
I am pretty sure you all know what stock interior looks like, so I will spare you those photo's. I am always up for suggestions, so feel free to let me know of what else I can do to this thing. I think the next project is rust repair tho...
Stereo:
1xCerwin Vega 12" Sub
1xCerwin Vega 6" Splits
1xCerwin Vega 6x9's
2xCerwin Vega amps - Not sure of the model at the moment tho
Powered by the Pioneer DEH-P8650
So here are a couple of pics .. The commy doesn't have split seats so you gotta forgive me for the limited viewing...
The bits of orange/red that you see are lights on top of the amp... This would look really cool if the seats folded...
The tweater is hidden in the stock speaker pods in the dash. Not much point in taking a pic of them...
Same as the 6x9's... But may take some pics over the weekend
And the deck
Overall sound is pretty good.. Not as loud or as good as the Sonata, but at a fraction of the cost it does the job...
I will try to get some better pics tho.. These were just done in a hurry so I could show what has been done to the car in the past week ...

Thanks for the comments guys .. I want to get some newer pic's as all the others are when I had the stockies on it ...
I forgot to mention, but not sure how to confirm it ... The pervious owner advised me that the car had VN SS brakes... So yeah, not sure if that is true or not..
They're what I was gonna be getting! Hopefully I will have proper rims soon.Originally Posted by vlfury
looks good. looks like youre missing the rear lip for the ss kit. get that and it will look great.
what problems are you having with the steering wheel?

Bitser! Bits of this, Bits of that..
nice vn man.. looks to me its an S pack, judging by the trim, mine is the same and its an S. keep up the good work!
I might have to start searching on ebay for it then ... I was thinking of getting the group A kit ... But not sure yet... Might just see what she looks like with the full SS bar then ...Originally Posted by stocky
I just can't get the bloody wheel off ... I tried harsh pulling, gentle pulling, giving a slight tap with a mallet ... But no good ... I even got my neighbour to help, and see if he could pull it off (thinking I was a little weak) and he could not even make it budge... I am thinking I may just get a wheel puller and see how it goes... Might get the new wheel re-trimmed first then ...
I thought it was the S pack, but on the dash it only has the plain commodore badge. Doesn't the S have CommodoreS on the dash ???Originally Posted by stocky
Thanks mate.. Yeah as above... Does yours say Commodore on the dash or does it say CommodoreS ...Originally Posted by AngryVN
hmm interesting. if you really are desperate, just go to supercheap and get one of those steering wheel pullers. i managed to get my wheel off without one though, just took a bit of work.

Yeah, am going to try that one.. Just gotta clear up some time.. Have been working on my other project over the last couple of weekends...
nice car mate she looks good but i think u need to lose those hideous bid lights just above the number plate and yeh a steering wheel puller will be the go i just ended up using a gear puller for mine
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
Yeah, I know... There is the square clip holding them in place, that is like a couple of cm's square... It is hammered straight through the front bar, and if I take it off it is going to look just as silly with 2 wholes there ... (The lights were on the car when I bought it) ...Originally Posted by vq statesy
I am looking at doing some rust repair, and when done will take them out, fill it, and spray it also ... Just gotta save up the cash again tho ...
Nice looking car mateWhats the cerwin vega gear go like? Where'd ya pick it up from too?
Cheers, Gaz

The Deck I give![]()
+.5 - The only thing I don't like about the dec is the EQ. It is not as good as what my older deck is in my Sonata.. I am glad I kept that deck ..
Precision details can be found at car audio stores around Olympic Park area in syd?
Also some opinions about there work from other guys ...
Starting to do a little matainance...
Replaced both wipers and blades, as the owner before me decided that cable ties and electrical tape are a good way to hold in the wiper blades.. And they were pretty crappy quality, so I replaced them on the weekend...
I also have bought and will continue to install the following: -
K&N Ram Pod
CAI
Bosch ignition leads
NGK Iridium Plugs
Then come an oil change, and just some other little things to make sure the car is in top shape.. Not quite sure of its service history, so will start with this ...
If ya willing to spend the money on that sorta stuff such as Iridium IX plugs, go top quality leads too..
Magnacore are an awesome lead. Top Gun are meant to be really good too, but I have the 8mm versions and I wouldnt reccomend them
Iridium IX plugs are great, had em in my car for 40,000km's now and still goin well. Meant to last 60,000.
Got the Ram Pod on ... But haven't custom made a box for it yet ...
Got the leads, ended up still going with Bosch, but they are the Black High Performance leads... Not sure if they are any better, but the were recommended..
Tried to take out the spark plugs, and what a task ... My spark plug tool is useless... So ended up just changing 3 of the leads, and calling it quits for the night as it was getting late ... And I was hungry ...
I was actually surprised because so far, the car feels to be running a little better.. Probably wont get a chance to finish the job until Friday/Weekend.. Which doesn't bother me cause the car is not used that often anyway ..
Got the pod on, and have chopped away at the air box to try and make it fit.. The K&N filter I got is a little long, and kinda sticks out from the cut box.. Not sure if I could be bothered to keep trying to alter it, or just leave it as it is.. Will try and take a pic of it tonight.
The thing of it is, that you can really here it sucking in air... Even when you are sitting in the car with the windows up ... I have a pod on my other car, and it makes no where near as much noise as this... Is it normal ???
Here are the updated pics...
