another up-late update

worked the ol' ass off this week, and nowwwwwwww she's pretty much right to paint! a gooood thorough clean and off to the paint shop tomorrow to pick up some etch primer!

i've welded up all the un-necessary holes, bogged over, smoothened down, etc... re-sealed strut towers and firewall, except much smoother than they did it in the factory :P!

also mostly bogged up all the dimples from the spot welds, but there's yet a bit more smootheninng to do of pinholes etc, but i'll wait till the primer is on so the bay doesn't start rusting on me

Here she is! -> top coat will go on during the week i think! so i'll be blingin' soon and ready for some suspension rebuilding!

oh, when i got bored i cleaned out the wheel arches spotless spec, then gave em a quick coat of black, so it all looks brand new under there!

yeah it's the same colour

i can't really take a photo of the paint, as it's a 2 stage process!

1x base coat of silllllver
1x clear red coat over the top of silver

so when the light hits it, the red is a light red
in the shadows it goes darker!.

the paint you see also isn't metallic or anything, the base coat is the metallic part of it!

You'll see it soon enough! if weather goes well i'll be spraying on the weekend!

thought for the day: can a man eat a piece of bread bigger than he is?

got a vl k-frame last night, which is now sprayed up bling spec.
also scored a whole bunch of bushes and a brake upgrade, and some ball joints and tie rod ends, etc etc.

coat of putty primer on the engine bay now too.

struts are all painted up and same with sway bar etc.

i really want this down on the ground painted by new years, which leaves 10 days! eek!

haha! i don't think i have a big enough vice! it might be a job for the suspension guys in return for a few cans!

about 24 of them if i had to do it again i would buy the whole control arms with the bushes already pressed in .....the worst one to do is castor rod bush....for that you need a special tool and lotttttttttttttttttttts of patience

quick update but i've been busy! except christmas slowed me down a little.

so here she sits! painted, most of the suspension in, all new bushes pressed in.... ball joints pressed in... fun times all round!

thought of the day: if 7-eleven is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year - then how come they put locks on the doors?

i'm glad i kept on updating this throughout the course of things so far! i've looked back from the start of the thread and checked out the pics and the ongoing plan and excitedness about random things! but everything's gone well so far!

Now i'm a bit concerned about the expensive part of the project -> motor and gearbox!... but we'll see!

I'll buy a vl and get the motor and box out of that, try flog off the rest of it to make some money back! then i think i'll setup the fuel system and diff... and then I'll learn to be an engine builder!

yup, 1st pic a few posts up you can see the rotor on there, using the hub adaptor!

oh man, i dunno! but hopefully before easternats.

i'm going to have to fork out a fair bit of cash for the auto and the motor but i want them built TOUGH - i never want to replace a broken part! hehe

okay another update

slowed down just a tad, trying to save some cash for things to come... i'll get there

i decided while saving cash to do the things that are cheap.... like wiring!

oh, the car is on all 4 wheels, i made the new years deadline! it was on wheels on the 30th of december!

i'm setting another deadline, and that is to have the short motor built by the end of febuary... pending money, i would like to have the long motor build by the end of febuary..... but big snails are expensive!

I ripped out the dash and pulled out a few kg of aftermarket wires....

i ended up re-looming the whole loom, and wiring in factory-style wiring for the alarm and for the spotties...

the car had a switch installed to cut the numberplate light! heh! must have some kind of secret ex-hoon life

anyway, interior is kinda back together, wiring is a lot neater now... i just need a new fuse holder for the main fuse/relay box in the bay so i can finish up wiring!

cause has all calais goodness, rear garnish, dash, interior, carpet, electrics...

the grille wasn't calais

and i don't think the spotlights came out on calaissses.....

by the looks of the wiring someone knew what they were doing, they were just a bit of a butcher!
