lookin good luke, ill have to drop round and check out your progress and show you my turboness.. once i fix this dump pipe
love the interior..if only i had it
im a commin to see the car again soon luke!
haha I thoguht about putting the v6 into the vl, then stripping everything out of it, welding the diff, and taking it to calder (with no springs) to see how she runs, and blow her up at he burnout comp!
unfortunately, my sensibility got the best of me. and now both the vl and the v6 are gone
Long time no update ! Unfortunately things with work haven't gone as well as planned (work cash flow issues) so i've been having to cut back on my spendings. (i.e. ... the vn) for the last few weeks.
If all goes well I'll be wearing a suit and driving a company car in the next few weeks, ready to spend spend spend!
The motor is still sitting on the stand... awaiting machine work - maybe if I wait long enough, it will bore itsself out with rust?!?
I purchased a VT master cylinder and brake booster. Shortly I will get to welding up a custom bracket to mount it all and modifying the input rod. I reckon the brakes will be spot on! I'm aiming for big-toe-only top gear standstills(for those of us who don't wear shoes) I'll have to get some custom lines made up to suit the braide lines to the caliper i have, and the VT fittings on the master cylinder. Shouldn't be too expensive, pluuus i'll get nice and shiny brake lines out of it!
I need to get around to buying a surge tank and a bosch 044 fuel pump, along with lines and fittings.... I'll also need to get abattery box, and I'll get a carpenter mate to come over and build me a nice custom boot setup to cater for battery, some stereo gear, and fuel system. Battery will be mounted in the spare-wheel well, to try keep weight as low to the ground as possible. It should be a good beer-drinking weekend adventure.
So that's it for now! I'm a bit spewing I got delayed so much, but there's not too much I can do about it! I'll make some massive progress soon, I promise!
Luke.
looks tuff mate keep up the good work, and make sure you don't rush the job and spoil it.
busted ass vp

lol, about the Vl and all of them having cut springs
The car the looks Sweet...You need a money tree to help your car along lol
we all need a money tree!
i sold the v6 and auto, and the vl served as a couch and a canvas/ashtray for a night, then got towed away for free!
That's looking sah-weet! You'd better be taking a lot of pictures along the way, I'm itching to see more![]()

alright, more it is!
the vt master cylinder and brake booster is fitted up. had to use my bracketeering abilities to make up some brackets to mount it to the firewall, and to mount it to the strut tower. I then had to modify the input rod to level out the brake pedal (thanks heaps to markovr and his VT brake thread for measurements for the rod) - I made my own (but similar) bracket setup.
I just gotta get the brake lines flared and stuff to suit now.
I also welded in two lengths of box tube into the spare wheel well today, and installed the battery box and did the earth cable.
I ripped out the tow bar, and the fuel tank. - the fuel in there was so old it almost smelt like diff oil!
... so now that the car is in the air, i've opened up a massive can of worms, and i will probably:
- rip out the diff
- do all the bushes in the rear end (still have plenty of bushes left over from the pack i bought)
- build the diff (lokka spec,3.45 gears that i already got)
- seam weld where the panhard rod and trailing arms are spot/tack welded to the floorpan.
- find an 85 litre long range tank, spray it up and put it in. (i figure an extra 20 litres of fuel might be good news for traction)
- surge tank and fuel pump in boot
- weld up all the holes in the boot from towbar/old stereo setup
- build/carpet custom boot setup out of lightweight materials.
soooooooooo much work
ah well, here's some new pics. the garage is pretty messy...
lookin good luke... ill drop by probbly this weekend and check her out
MMMm Delish!![]()
Another bit of an update....
installed isolator switch into cigarette holder location, cleaned out the boot, obtained a long range vn tank (which i'm now sanding and prepping for paint). I also bought a surge tank and a bosch 044 fuel pump.
next up i'll take out the diff, clean up and spray under the car, weld the control arm mounts and stuff so they don't rip out on a big launch.
Then i'll spray the tank, fit a lokka center into the diff (along with new bearings if it needs it etc), do all the bushes in the rear, and re-assemble everything complete with fuel system all done...
hoping in the next week or two to have the rear of the car all ready to take some powA.
Then I'll do the wiring necessary to run the motor,
then i just need a ratchet shifter, some gauges, a gearbox, a motor, a turbo, a cooler, some piping, a radiator, a tail shaft, an exhaust, and LOTS of random bits and pieces - and i might be kinda ready to take it for a spin
Oh, and my girlfriend is going to HATE me when she sees the boot seal and tail lights and other bits and pieces soaking in the bath tub.....luckily i cleaned the fuel tank at car lovers.

its coming along nicely
