luvn this epic build
okay - been pretty busy in the shed - things aren't progressing as quickly as i'd like, however i suppose there's only so much work that I can cram in on the car between work and other commitments (and sleep).
anyway;
- waiting for rocker cover, plenum etc to come back from the polishers. I would have thought it was a 20 minute job on the buffing wheel - but apparently that takes well over a week to do? - lucky I'm not paying them by the hour
- 95% of the car body wiring is done. still need to do remote boot release, high mount brake light, and reverse light switch.
- the dash, climate control, instrument panel, pedal box, steering column, etc, etc is in!!!
- besides the central locking (will get onto this) everything works perfect!! - all the interior/headlight delays, dimming controls, intermittent wipers, cruise control, heated window, climate control, etc appears to work just like it should - which is a big plus! Had some small issues as i'd removed an earth for the ABS? module - which happened to share and earth with the BCM
It's also worthwhile noting that i had to modify the taillight and headlight harnesses (inside the lights) so that the VR body loom worked with the VN headlights. The taillight looms had to be modified to cater for the Caprice's "tail light out" functionality.
anyway
- I got new headlights and indicators! my old ones were cracked etc, and just waiting for a ticket
- headlining is back from the trimmers, and is now a nice new beige - very happy with it!
- front seats have gone to the trimmers for a bit of a freshen up of the leather
- got new carpet (buckskin)
- engine loom has made bulk progress - waiting on a few connectors and gotta find some shielded cable suitable for the CAS, but big progress in this area!
- got heaps of fancy fittings and hose etc - should make fluid plumbing a breeze!
Anyway - I'm sure I've forgotten a whole bunch of stuff- however the list of things still left to do is getting smaller by the day!!
here's some pics - ignore the dirty engine bits (timing and rocker covers) - they'll be replaced when the polisher finishes with my other ones. Note the 'hidden engine loom in progress' loom

****ing Incredible!

you haven't been on msn! - but yup, the welds are still holding! so far so good lol!
yep - except you have to be careful with the red because it can go 'patchy' if you don't spray it evenly.how hard is the candy apple red to spray? is it just spray the silver like a normal colour then spray the red like you would a clear coat?

Man you not only have a light absorbing engine bay, you now have a rocker cover that light can't stick to?:P whats going to happen when you put them both together? end of the universe?

Looking good mate, with the supercharger pully had any problems with slippige? with the pully itself or the top hat slipping, when i fitted mine it slipped on the hat hat at high revs, but now i have made it a fixxed unit so it runs constant, and also took it down to 100mm insted of 103mm, but now the beld is slipping on the pully itsself and anything over 4g in anygear it drops 1-2psi, and its not boosting up.

will let you know once i get it all together and running. I've had the 'hat' machined flat for least amount of slippage chance, and will be running a 12->24v converter that comes with the kit
problem is i won't relaly be able to notice slippage due to the nature of the setup - i will only be able to inspect for wear on the mating surfaces.
Yeah its easyer for me to count how much psi is going into the motor, you have alot more lol, + it would be different boosting stages and rpm no dout when it kicks in. well good luck with it, love your work.

Been a while - unfortunately i'm still busy as with everything - however I've managed to cut down on vast amounts of sleep and keep the ball rolling with the car.
engine's in, interior all ready to start modding to fit nicely. All wiring etc is mint - all factory spec
still a bunch of work to do - I'm goign to redo the cooler piping with the help of a mate, and upgrade one way valves too - to try gain some top end.
quick pics;
:P I like this
I'm glad to see my supercharger going to good use! Man, you crazy! Your attention to detail is next to none mate. Look forward to seeing it all in person again soon.
Looks good luke nice to see the ecotec TB is on

The attention to detail is unbelievable. I can't believe that engine is all wired up! There's just nothing in sight
You couldn't have paid someone $50,000 to do a better job of it, really. I'm looking forward to seeing this in the flesh when you get it on the roadThat's just unbelievably cool ^_^
