    Default 1993 VP Calais

Well here is my VP Calais that I just picked up today. Got it for a real good price!!!
    Features Include:
    * 147,000 kms
    * Calais Luxuries (eg. IRS, LSD, Climate Control, Cruise, Trip, Great Interior Seats etc.....)
    * Resprayed blue within last 24 months (colour change from silver)
    * Body work all factory options (eg silver stripes, spats and so on...)

And yeah, she needs a little work, thats why i got it for a good price...

Needs a lot of cosmetics, and some you will see in the pictures.

Just after some feed back at the moment. Going away this weekend, so will be weekend after and I'll get stuck into it.

By the way, if anyone knows why the engine has black areas (inlet manifold, alternator, radiator cap), please post a comment (maybe a rebuild or something)...

Yeah i agree, it just dont look like a calais anymore.

Looks good tho, nice low kms.

As for the black painted parts, id say that the last owners just painted it, not that good either, should do it again.

    Thanks for the feedback guys

As for the black paint, the previous owner is a painter by trade, and he said he didn't do it, he only painted the outside of the car (blue).
So eihter the first owner did, or it has some meaning (reco...). As the alternator and other parts are also painted black.

In regards to the two-tone. I agree that the silver on the bottom is a calais trade mark, and i used to like it. But it's starting to look old. I like the same colour all over the car - makes it look younger, and fresher. Besides, my car still has calais spats (unique to vp's). They are only as old as the paint, as originals were chipped. Bought from holden, and they don't make them anymore!

MODS - um well 2.5" exhaust, big stereo (again - been a few years since i last had one), lowered to middle height all round, and replace missing parts - WILL BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR A VP TO WRECK - I AM ON THE GOLD COAST

Anways, keep the comments coming guys

Yeah sure mate, no worries. I live in Nerang.

By the way, If anyone knows of a VP model that I could buy to wreck - would be greatly appreciated.

Hey "calais_cruzin", only got the car yesterday, but have gone over it and needs some things done.....one thing is that the digital dash doesn't display anything - is there a fuse or do i need a new dash? Haven't done research or anything on the car, just being lazy and asking at the moment

OMG ... Whats with that???? Somethings different

The dude that painted the car order brand new rear lights and garnish - must've preferred executive ones himself. I think it looks pretty sweet; nice red rear with the blue paint. Stripes may have looked no good with this particular colour. Plane simple straight colours.

    Anways, I'm happy with it.

You should go get sum chrome pin strip n a can of clear coat and do those tail-lights, i didnt notice that they were exec onse in there.

I want to go buy a set of lights n a new garnish and re-strip them like a original as my garnish has a crack n chrome strips are getting a bit worn.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I can tell you right now, I'll be taking my 17's off my vn (then selling it!) and putting them on the vp. I took these pictures to show how it looked before i did anything.

if the VIN has an X in it then it is a calais, if it is a K then it is an Excecutive, or L is berlina.

    G'Day all.

Ok, its got brand new (exec) brake lights, but everyone's winging that its not a calais. To be honest....does it even matter. As long as it looks good !

To put all those people's mind at rest (the wingers), I just checked the VIN Number....its 6H8VPX#########.

Its a Calais. It has all the buttons around the dash, climate control, digital dash, Calais interior, Calais spats, Calais wiring loom, power everything (just one driver side window not working) etc....and like "calais_cruzing " said its a lot of work to convert it from exec. But yeah, its factory Calais, just with ONE COLOUR paint work

Thanks for the comments but !

Default Another Commy on the Road

    Well shes finally Road registered!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a couple of pics for its first drive since ive owned it (6 months).

Getting the stock (broken) exhaust replaced with 2 1/2" and other 2 of it getting washed

Added 4 more of pics before i got it registered - site was down back then

Shes looking pretty good, but still requires some work as i go

This arvo, she got a basic service - oil & oil filter, air fiter and fuel filter, spark plugs, leads and a coolant flush

Definately will be out for its first cruise 2nite.

Let me know what you all think... Im pretty happy with it so far!!!!!!

    Thanks

Thanks for the comments guys...and so quickly.

Checked out your calais international kit, looks good - but i think i will keep my car as is. Just planing on lowering it, then getting new 18's for my vy ss, and using those ss mags on my car. Big stereo will follow, along with C.A.I. Then that will pretty much do it, just maintenance and servicing

    Untill another idea comes along

    Default VP Updates

    Hi all,

Thought I'd upload a few pics to let you's all know that she is still on the road.......just...

Have a major powersteering leak (from the end seals into the boot covers). Have a vn rack in the garage awaiting to be reco'd and installed, in the mean time, i am chewing through plenty of power steer fluid

Other than that, she's been pretty good for a car that has been sitting for ages!

Had a small earth problem causing the car to die on me on the m1 approx a week after getting it road registered. New earth and lugs (with alminox) saw it getting a descent charge again.

Got my CAI today and its in - pretty cheap from holden (if you don't mind cutting the bottom hole youself....was pretty simple and had 4 other boxes to cut if I didnt get it right first time ...

Will continue the mods in due time

    Power steering rack next.

Then hopefully my stereo (at gold coast car sound maybe???)

    Then lowered!!!

And maybe take off the tint and apply a darker coat.

    That may do it

Feel free to leave comments (hopefully nice ones).

    Default Wheel Alligned

Here she is after the powersteering rack was installed (thursday night 1-11-07) and after the wheel allignment (today 5-11-07).

Looks a little Better after a wash!!!
Drives a lot better too, with the new rack and wheel allignment - very light with the calais option of variable power

    Tell me what you think...
