    Default T5 PLay Car

    Here's my baby.
    1989 5 speed VN V6 Executive

Most of the driving I do in it is on the track or a run on the weekend. The paint's really bad but I'm not fussed because it just gets dinged up at the track anyway.

    Mods:
    - King Springs ultra lows all round
    - Shortened Koni rear shocks
    - Adjustable rear sway bar
    - 30mm whiteline front sway bar (links mounted to lower contoll arm)
    - 16" ss rims with Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin tyres
    - VL Turbo 3.45 LSD (in wider VN housing)
    - Series two type coil pack
    - Pacemaker headers
    - Cold Air Box with K&N Pod filter
    - Seat / Steering Wheel / Shift Light
    - DBA Slotted rotors and proper track pads / high boiling point brake fluid

Future Mods: (Poor student so might take a while..)
    - Koni adjustable front struts
    - Adjustable strut tops
    - Adjustable radius rods
    - 2.5" exhaust
    - Ported and raised compression heads
    - Custom ground cam to match the heads
    - Tune
    - Bigger brakes
    - Roll cage

These photos are at an old track day, more to come of my cold air box.

I keep it registered and still drive it to and from the track. Got the whiteline swaybar second hand off trademe, I found it at the same time I was looking to buy a new one.

To be honest I haven't had a lot of track time on the new sway bars to properly test them. I've only been out in the wet and with crap rear tyres (heap of oversteer) but they seem really good. I fitted both front and rear at the same time so I don't know what just fitting a front would be like. I'm still playing with different settings on the rear sway bar but I think with some good rear tyres I'll be able to settle it down to slightly oversteer when I push it too far. Before the sway bars went on the car would understeer around most corners on the track (it wasn't like that on the road though) so it seems to have fixed this problem. If I was just going to fit a front sway bar I would have expected the understeer to get worse.

Oh and immortality, the panel beaters managed to pull the A-pillar back out so I just need to get an allignment and buff out the blue..

good to hear you'll be ready to race another day. i've thought about the sway bar thing also, the guy who suggested it was thinking that i had 1/4mile times in mind as i too think that front sway bar only would create more understeer where as excessive rear bar would create more oversteer

Just got this VR Calais today as a daily because my old toyota's on its way out. Now the VN's gona be gathering dust for a while as I pay this off. Hopefully I don't get carried away and start modding it too much. I want some tints to keep the leather seats cool and a few other things.

Didn't like the windscreen banner so that's no longer on the car.

The VN will always be number one. I'll be getting it out quite a bit because this is the 1st auto I've owned and sometimes feel the need to change my own gears.

Those rims didn't come with the car so at the moment it's riding around on the 16's from the poor old VN.

    Cheers vk calais manual.

Yeah immortality, yours seemed to make good gains changing it from the NZ VN tune to an unleaded so I'll have to get one of those in mine.

Here's a pic of my cold air box. When it's at the track air gets fed in via a shelled out headlight.

Nah haven't had another chance, to be honest Sunday was the first time I'd had the VN out since getting the VR because I just got new rims to put on it. Can defanitly notice the difference in speed between the two cars. With exams comming up and a serious lack of money it might be a while before I can get it out.
