This is my VQ statesman, 5lt with 5 speed conversion
Was brought as a one owner dead stock with 100,000km on the clock
Over the years i have
lowered it, Fitted K-mac adjustable suspension, tinted windows, 3 inch mandel bent exhaust, Cold air intake, large throttle body, have fitted a HSV body kit and fog lights, fitted 19'' senator signatures and has ran the best of 9.2 over the 1/8 at portland drags and have entered a few burnout comps in it

VN burnout car
Brought it for $400, with 2 days to get it ready for the drags welded the diff up and got 30 seconds of fun out of it, before punching out number 3 + 5 Con rods out the side of the block, on a second gear rev limiter burnout
i have been working on it for the last 18 months, Giving it weight reductions, full manuailsed auto B and M shifter, pace maker extractores, ported and polished heads, bigger valves, heavy duty valve springs and retainers, custom twin body manifold (made by me and a mate) Fuel cell in the boot.
Looking to take out the burnout title this year at portland.![]()

damn, nice looking stato there, what makes it so fast? is it just a freak or sumthing?
also, how can it be the fastest stock stato, with a 5 speed in it?
Looking good.
How much did that K-mac set up cost? How is your ride quality?
You got any pics of your centre console?
Cheers
I love it how people say fastest >holden model< in the WORLD
Somehow i don't think there are all that many holdens out of Aus and NZ and if there is, i don't think they are too far off stock standard.
But this stato is very nice looking and damn quick looking at the 1/8 time you got!! I do love a good VQ stato and this one is a prime example of a clean tough VQ![]()

Its hard to grasp how much faster 9.2s are than a normal 5 litre with say...... pacemakers and a twin cat system but those cars will normally run 9.6 at best and more likely 9.7, remember so far Airstrike ran a 9.85 and that's fairly typical and normal. Running a 9.2 lets you see those cars back in your mirror over the line. To do that in my car I reckon thats a good effort but to make it in a statesman that must weigh at least 100kgs more than my car isstuff. Devilnsangle? over on SC is making high 9.3s?ish and running 14.5 flat over the 1/4 mile with extractors full exhuast and 3.9 gears also in a VQ and even that is a highly respected time over there on SC for a VQ (but his is an auto)
vq_rat I'll be there too in November, I'll get someone to film the runbut It's not very fair anymore since I've pulled a fair bit of weight out of my car now and have 3.45 gears half installed and might even have a new manifold on by then (hopefully) so I should be running in the high 8s
Cobez fitting the wheels were fine the rear trailing arms have heaps of ajustment to clear the inner gaurds as well to keep the alignment spot on, the suspenson set up help a lot with traction as well as slicks to get good times, the motor in the car is 175,000kms old never towed as i fitted the tow bar a few months ago for a moto x trailer and the old owner a 79 year old lady had it service every 5,000kms so i'd say it must be a freak, a heavy duity clutch, lsd help put the drive to the black stuff, It has a large sound system if weight comes into it but hey il post time slips after november haha, I not hear to big name myself, just to show my car and the hard work i have put in to it
stato looks good, good luck with the mods.
very nice mate, looks tuff as!
So it ended up having a 355 in it? I thought it had all the good bits on a 304? anyway we will still have a run, getting beat by a injected 5 litre might inspire me to not let it happen twice:P?
wow i love vq statemans and thats a perfect example of why. sigs look great
