Yeah I've got a thread going on it: Hints / tips wanted: floor restoration
Cheers![]()

are you looking at replacing any panels with fibreglass?
Not in the short term
Will be following VN_Luke's progress on welding in the firewall, I can definitely see some structural bracing happening in the near future.
Not much progress lately unfortunately, will get back on the ball when the weather clears up a bit![]()
WTB: mulberry VN interior parts
depending on your bracing, will that limit the events you can/cant enter? arn't there catagories?
I'll look into that when the time comes. Until then, nothing too seriousunless you call welding in the firewall serious :P
if I can even get it out to do it in the first place.... and if i get around to it
At the moment, prep for track, and I'll worry about which category later on.

and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
nope.
in other news, I just discovered whilst removing a taillight (to correct a devastating boot leak) that my taillight mount points have been scrambled.. probably by the sub I had in the boot, and by just being old.
Need some new ones, quite badly!

double post... stupid internet
WTB: mulberry VN interior parts
I only mention it savage because a mate of mine was building drag cars a while back and I remember him mentioning that he was using chassi braces that bolt on because if he has welded ones he would ahve to enter a different catagory and all the cars in that lot were allot bigger and faster.
Something like that anyway, cant wait to see some you-tube of the car running mate.
bah I don't do youtube vidsIt's just a VN V6 minispooled for now anyway, nothing special yet!
I might try to get a vid up from the drags, me against a mate's R32.. he won![]()

So Savage, any progress? pr thoughts of progress? whats the next move?
No progress really. I've been abandoning the car so much, other things to take care of.
Next step is continue with my floor smoothing and painting, as well as a dual rear swaybar setup that's almost ready to go, then look into the fuel system.
WTB: mulberry VN interior parts
wtf a dual rear swaybar?
any chance you can go into more detail? ive never heard of it.
yea sure, along these lines:
Sway bars and Strut braces - R31info (a bit over half way down the page.)
a cheap rear sway bar upgrade
WTB: mulberry VN interior parts
Well a couple of small updates but nothing too significant:
Successfully completed the dual rear sway upgrade, it's stiffened up the rear end SO much, and offered, surprisingly, significantly MORE grip with the minispool.
AU thermo fans have been chopped down to the point where they fit (almost) comfortably with all the radiator and transmission cooler lines still in place. I just need to work out a way to fix them in place securely, and wire them to the existing V6 thermo wiring so they work off the factory trigger.
Next thing is probably to organise some el-cheapo air duct from the front bar, so I at least have SOME kind of cold air for the drags where I'll hopefully be able to chase down a 15.5 this time.
I'm thinking I'll try to find and rebuild an injected V8 for the car as well, nothing wrong with the six but the mrs and I are missing our V8 too much to bear.. I'd like to try to cook up a home-built stroker but we'll see.

Ant: yeah I really should have! As for not on here much, yeah the internet here gives me the shits so I'm not on for long when I am online.. but yes, I should have done a V8. BUT I've learned some assembly skills from rebuilding the V6 that will be handy for building up an 8.
Padrickz88: Still a bit of understeer, not sure if the bars changed that at all. Definitely keeps the rear wheels very planted though, not so much of the minispool liveliness under throttle, plenty more grip! I like the dual bar setup very much. Bit of stuffing around to set up, but does a good job.

I've always considered doubling up the swaybar on my VQ. So much cheaper than forking out for a good whiteline one. Did you just use pairs of u-clamps to secure the suckers together? I wanna see pics![]()

You don't wanna see pics :P and I don't want to look at it, because I'm scared. My dodgy spacer pipe sections are not the prettiest, they were installed in a great hurry. This evening, something began creaking back there over bumpsso I probably should really have a look ASAP.
Double rear sway bars are the awesomest though, once I work out how to secure the 2nd one better, I'll let you know!!
WTB: mulberry VN interior parts
sweeeeeeeet, got a rough price of how much it set you back?![]()
The minispooled diff was completely built for $650, I removed and installed the entire assembly to save on labour costs. The dual rear sway bar setup was very cheapI think it came to around $30 total, found a bar for free from zuicider, a few high tensile nuts, bolts and washers from bunnings, a couple of bits of an old thick wall steel pipe I found and cut to length, and a $3 spraycan of aluminium silver to make it all look pretty

Small update:
I got the AU thermos mounted, hooked up and working fine yesterday. They kick in with air con, haven't been able to test with temperature yet.. I used the plug from the old V6 thermo fan, bridged the two earths and the two live from the AU fans into that plug, and upgraded the blade fuse labeled 'eng fan' to the biggest I could find lying around (30A, up from 25A factory). I thought it would just blow on startup but it works OK. They suck a hell of a lot of air through the radiator, even though my shrouding is very hacked up from when I fitted them. Very happy with this mod
edit: melts the 35A fuse. Doesn't blow, but melts the plastic.time to find a better solution
