Hi everyone,
It's been about 18 months since I visited this forum, some users may remember my name/car, or this thread in particular..
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ng-centre.html
(I would have posted in it, but it's been locked).
Anyway... It's been nearly 18 months since it was stolen (April 24th 2006) but my car has been found and recovered!
...that was October 8th (bathurst weekend would you believe), and yesterday it returned home to me.
It's surprisingly in pretty good condition.. the tyres are bald, and I'm missing 2 of the mags (the other 2 mags are ruined with kerb damage, but hey).
However, the electricals are a mess.
There was a spare computer in the passenger door, and a boot full of VN parts.
The steering coloum has all been ripped off and the ignition barrel now sports a 'phillips' style key system..
I put 20 litres of fuel in it last night, topped up the oil and coolant levels and put the battery on charge over night.
Today, I tried to start it, and although the starter motor is turning the engine over, the plugs have spark, and the fuel pump is donig its thing the engine just won't turn over..
I'd appreciate anyones suggestions on what to do next to help diagnose why it won't start.
I must admit, the joy of it coming home has soon turned to anger now that I've seen what these @##$*& did to my car.. everything is loose, it's all a bit of a mess... oh well, summer project it looks.
But yeah, any suggestions as to the best way to diagnose a non-starting motor would be great.
So I'm back with a Holden, and back on the forums.. no doubt you'll be seeing more of me now around the place![]()
any idea who did it? how many Ks were clocked up on it since it was stolen?

Well, as far as I was told, and that wasn't much.... the house where they found it at, the guy there said that he bought it from someone about 12 months ago and didn't know it was stolen (which would mean he bought it 6 months after it was stolen).
They have got that guy for possesion of stolen goods or whatever the charge is called, but no-one got knicked for the actual theft.
As for K's... well,
A few weeks before it was stolen while I was driving around, the needle on the tacho fell off inside the dash, it was a job that I was 'going to get to', to fix.
Anyway, on return I found the dash had the needle back in place.. because the whole cluster had been replaced... and my original cluster, still with floating needle was in the boot...
So I have no idea how many K's it's travelled in the 18 months.
check your EFI relay, and put new plugs in it too, they could be stuffed and the car is just flooding, also check for injector pulse, by removing an injector plug and fit an LED across the two terminals in the plug, then when you crank it the LED should pulse.
Damn, sounds like your car has done some hards yards. Good to see you got her back in the end though!
unfortunate for the guy that bought it though. would suck if he had no idea what happened, but maybe he can help find the guy that stole it?

In cases like that (assuming you have full comp) you'd hope you don't get the car back, for these exact reasons.
Its good that you have it back, but if it doesn't have any sentimental value, i suggest stripping it and starting again.

Good to see you got it back though!

Good to see you got it back, in any condition..
What can i say, sorry to rub it in but $300 is a small amount to have it covered against theft. Anyone can steal a vn in under a minute..
As for how to start it, ?? if its been fanged hard then maybe its the piston rings worn and not getting enough compression?
What absolute tossers.
If they stole your car an balded the tires my guess was that they were revving the f!@# out of it, and because of this I would check the compression.
Hope you get it sorted
Great news that you've got your car back. Westfield Marion is a real 'hot spot' for vehicle thefts, illegal interferences and theft from (within) m/vehicles. You need to take every precaution (within your means) to prevent future theft. Consider Immobiliser, Club Lock (yes they can be a deterent to some), 'kill switch', remove fuel pump fuse(s), fit a Full Metal Jacket to protect the ignition lock assembly from 'manipulation' and I'm sure others might also have suggestions. The main thing is to deter offenders from considering theft of YOUR vehicle - even if that means they steal someone elses. Hey that's life !!
