I've had this car for a while now, just haven't gotten around to posting anything up about it....
It's a 1990 VN exec. V6 auto. Had 220,000km's on it when I bought it 2 and a half years ago. It had a respray back in 05.
Current mods:

Bilstein gas shocks, all round
Lowered a little bit
VN Calais Seats
18" Advanti Photons (thanks to wagon_wheel!)
Stereo- pioneer bluetooth deck (not in yet), pioneer 6x9"s pioneer sub.
Future mods:
Extractors
LSD
Stage 2 shift kit

Bigger brakes
I'd love to hear feedback, whether it's a suggestion or just a comment. Would love to hear it.
Cheers
Sam
Nice ride mate, not sure about the HRT sticker but each to their own. also that steering wheel looks awesomevery clean car man
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
its amazing how new rims and tint can make an VN exec look real good!
i like it!
keep up the work![]()
Pretty good condition, You definitely need to tint (night shades) or paint the rear garnish black or a dark grey, will look 100% better.
Consol looks good, the rims suit nicely.
Points to consider,Get rid of that HRT Sticker looks way too big and ruins the clean look, ever thought of a vn group A kit and i would do the zorst, trans 1st then move on from there.
Nice VN all the best for the future.
Cheers.![]()

Thanks guys for the comments.
Yer I wasn't too sure about the HRT sticker. I got it for free off a mate, so I thought I'd give it a go. But now after a bit, I wanna get rid of it...
The wheels I think really suit. Better than the ceptors that was on there!
As for the rear garnish I have been so confused about what colour I should paint it. I'm not much of a painter (except for centre console) so I need help with that.
Cheers,
Sam
Thanks heaps for that mate. I'll pull the sticker off soon! Got the 2 and a half catback done a couple of months ago, so I might get the extractors next. But definately trans is next on my to do list.
I have considered a kit, just not too sure about any of them on a VN. The ss kit would be alright, but the group A is a bit big. We'll see!
Cheers,
Sam
I tinted my garnish with nightshades untill it became a dark grey colour, either that or black. Since your bumpers are black it will match 100% better then the light colour it is now, colour coded garnishes look crap btw.
Agreed with you there mate. I have seen many colour coded garnishes and thought, why? They look really crap.
I'm gonna sand it back, the paint is fading very badly, then paint it the same sort of dark grey as the bumpers.
While I'm on the topic of looks, you may have noticed, I have the calais chrome trims around the windows. I haven't finished the quarter windows though. The trim along the top of the doors is too short to reach the new quarter windows.
Sounds strange, so I'll try explain. I bought a set off a VN calais (minus the quarter windows) then I was given just the set off the doors, 4 pieces in total. They are off a VP calais. Then I got the quarter windows off a VP calais, and I thought I would be sweet. But it turns out the piece along the top is shorter. So, the VN one is obvioulsly not the same size as the VP one. Now I am having the problem of tracking a pair down....

OK, well finally painted my rear garnish. Just went black for now. What do you think?
yeh looks good, something about it just dont seem right though i cant finger it atm. maybe tint the tail lights?
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Yep, I know what you mean. After I had finished it, I stood back and thought it was missing something. I am gonna get some night shades and tint the tailights.
Before I do, I have seen many threads on here about it, but I get so confused. Simple question, should I mask up the reflector when I do it?
Cheers,
Keep the feedback coming,
Sam
Got a photo of the head unit after I finally installed it!
Garnish looks good now... but I dont see what the problem is with color coded ones mine is and suits, I think....
and well done with the centre consle, looks killer....

Thanks guys for the comments. I reckon the stereo install isn't too bad either. I just went for the old ipod in the glove box, but i'm curretnly planning on putting it in the centre console.
Just thought I'd add a few new photos. I finished painting some more of the interior plastics, the air vents, grab handles on the doors, speaker covers.
Also want to do some more to the engine, but I'm strapped for cash, so if anyone has any cheap ideas to get a little extra power that'd be great.
Keep the comments coming
cars looking good.
have u thought about a leterbox grille
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Thanks Geoff. Amazing what the wheels have done to the car! How much would you want for the grille?
Cheers

Yeh, thanks guys. Tailights will get done this weekend hopefully. I have a brand new grille sitting in my room. It's onlt te standard one, but once it's colour coded it won't look too bad.
Decided i'd do the oil today, so it's up on the jacks for a bit!
